Well, LB was clearly our most iffy position, though most posters didn't think so. No backups, we had to go to a S full time when our MLB went out? Bad news, will be really tough against K-States running game running the nickel all the time.

I think he came in at end. Nice intensity out of the kid (but keep it within the whistles). We had a safety in at MLB, according to the announcers anyway. I was surprised George wasn't in there.

I think Lattamer came in as a LB, and I would thing the coaches would at least be looking at him for MLB. Middle LBers tend to be bigger run stopper LBers, not 198 pound safeties.

It was hard to tell from TV, and I didn't pay all that close of attention to the 4th quarter, but I only saw Lattimer play DE.

And Washington wasn't really playing LB, at least not in my opinion. They just went to a 4-2-5 when Ta'ofu'ou got hurt.

George played, at least on FG/XP coverage, but I never saw him in at LB. Morton did play quite a bit at LB in the second half.

It could be a long year defensively. We should be prepared for teams to try to physically try pound us into the ground. With our front 7, I'm not sure we can stop that in most of our remaining games.

The back 3 of the front 7 don't matter if your front 4 are absolutely awful like ours were.

When he came running onto the field before that play it was obvious that something was wrong - he was really limping. I hope that playing that one extra play didn't make it too much worse.

As good as Iowa's RBs were they are not as good as Thomas - losing a LB the game before the KSU game is really bad timing for us and good timing for them.

Even UNI will try to run it through us.

is that why he was able to walk off under his own power? i assumed he just strained something or he cramped up

yes. fibula is non-weight bearing - the tibia takes all the weight load in the lower leg. most likely just a fracture and if that is the case he should be able to play again this season.

I'm curious to see if Benton reprises his role as nickel/hybrid back with Reeves/LJ at the corners. Lost in the blowout was that Reeves played a pretty decent game.

LJ needs to take a serious look at the tape and see where he went wrong. We all know he's capable of playing much better than he did today.

If the fibula doesn't bear weight, what purpose does it serve? (not trying to be a smarta**, I'm actually curious)

Even if it takes more than 4 weeks or the majority of the season, there is no chance for a Medical RS. He was already awarded one last year after being shelved with something along the line of a nagging ankle injury.
