And Teague, Jones, and Kidd-Gilchrist in the UK game. There were five guys in that game who would go on to be first round picks that following summer.
Yeah, that team was insane. Would've been great to beat Drake or somebody else that season and avoid UK a bit longer.

I also see that SI has THT #22:

People probably better get used to the idea that THT has a good shot at being a 1st rounder, especially if he shoots the 3 well down the stretch.

I think if there is a playoff team that still has a relatively young nucleus that will be good for a few years THT makes a ton of sense as a highly versatile guy that can bolster a second unit.

For the record, and many of us know this, we have had four first-rounds picks ever...

Fizer
Tinsley
Brackins
White

If Wigginton or THT (or even Tyrese) were to elevate themselves to that status, it would be a pretty special moment for the program and those young men.

So how far back does forever go?

Loren Meyer
Jeff Grayer

I guess I should have qualified the era. I was thinking of my own lived experience, which basically starts with the Floyd years -- just a little bit after Meyer.

Thank you for the correction.

So... six all-time?

I’m surprised you’d forget Cato of the Floyd era.

Wiki has 8 since 1988. 9 if you include Wesley Johnson.

Tyrese is included in this link. - https://theathletic.com/842490/2019...oaches-poll-the-potential-future-draft-picks/

THT was included in a similar list earlier this week

Wouldn't blame either of them if they have a strong finish to the season. If I had to guess both will test the waters just to get a sense of where they stand. And both should come back for at least one more year to tighten up some things, but you never know. It's not likely but selfishly I'm hoping that they both come back along with Lindell.

I remember Mitch McGary from Michigan & how he had a series of great Tourney performances - propelling UM to the championship game (2013?). His draft stock skyrocketed. This is what would be a dream scenario for us: THT takes his game to the "next level" night after night in the Tourney and we make the Final Four (& perhaps beyond) - even if that means he leaves for the NBA after this season.

I think everyone on this board would take that in a heart beat.

lets be real. there would definitely be someone on this board who finds a negative in that scenario haha

"They made the Final Four, but it was really a missed opportunity. A better coach would have had a better defensive plan for Kyle Guy in the national semifinal."

I was just going off the top of my head. Big Vic was a 1st rounder too.
