A good friend of mine had an old keg and one summer we cut that sucker in two with my sawzall. He constructed a stand, hinged the two halves and attached the inside tube on the outside as a handle. I think we also drilled some vents in the top. I think he bought a grilling surface from Lowes that he fit into the lower portion. Great charcoal grill. We had to lock it down though because people were constantly offering to buy it.

Just bought a grill from Wal Mart today with the attachment to hook it up to your trailer hitch. Looks pretty decent and VERY solid. I am gonna go price out some things to convert it to gas, but may just keep it charcoal. Best part it was only $30, about $80 less than anything else I have seen that hooks up to the hitch.

got the Coleman, like it a lot. Which reminds me, i might have to clean the grates from last tailgating season, it might be nasty.

I seriously took my Coleman to the carwash today. Five minutes of pressure washing and it still wasn't clean. I can't believe I left it sitting since last year without cleaning it.

I guess at least nothing was moving on it...:wideeyed:

Tailgate grills(just looking for old thread)

Sorry, I know there was a thread probably a month ago asking for referrals and opinions on tailgate grills. Can a mod. or someone help me find that. I wanted to reread some of the posts in there as I'm looking into buying a new one.

We spent most of the summer trying to decide on the best grill and I finally caved in and spent the money on the Weber Q 220 and the stand. I saw several grills that would have worked but none that were incredibly sturdy for being on the grass lots in G7. I ended up paying around $300 all together for the Q but man that puppy can cook like a full size grill. We've used it for both tailgates this year and everybody has loved cooking on it at the CF tailgate. Warning - it can get much hotter than typical portable grills so watch the food if you have it on high.

On a side note - We bought the biggest version of the Q (320 or something like that) that comes on a fixed stand for home use this past spring and have loved using it several times a week. We had a somewhat cheap grill last year, but it just couldn't cook a steak evenly, no matter what you tried. We finally got the "Daddy Q" as I like to call it this spring and it's a piece of art.

Take it from somebody that has gone through 3 grills in 3 years, buy a good one to begin with and save the hassle of selling the old and buying a new one every year.
