Any tablet reccommendations? As of now, I am leaning towards the next generation iPad but am open to a Windows 8 tablet. If it has a decent battery life

I have a ipad2 wife has asus transformer with docking keyboard. It isn't even close iPad all the way. I didn't want to buy into the apple hype. But it is worth it. The asus has tons of pop ups etc.

I've had the ipads and currently have a Nexus 7, pretty happy with either choice tbh.

iPad is the easy choice over a Win 8 tablet. Android has some nice advantages as well. Tablets I would say the iPad hands down, by far is the best choice. Smart phones I prefer Android. Computer I prefer Windows. Those all fit my lifestyle the best.

I've got an iPad, my kids have Samsung galaxy tabs. They both do the same stuff, just differently.

Get a decent quality tablet (not some cheap knock-off that won't get updates or be supported) and you'll be happy with your choice.

The only advantage I can see in having an iPad is it's use with other Apple products (Apple TV, etc.)

I'm typing this on my android phone while my iPad sits only feet away, FWIW.

I got an iPad for work. I absolutely hated all Apple hype. Buy an iPad. I'm not sure I'd go to an iphone but the tablet is a no brainer.

I am not a huge apple person by any means. I don't see a huge point in spending $1200 on an apple laptop vs. $600 on a Dell, even if the Dell has to be replaced in 4 or 5 years.

But.....I have realized the quality of Apple stuff is pretty good. I've had a second generation nano ipod for probably 8-10 years. That sucker still works incredibly. Holds a charge just like it always has. Never had any problems with it. On the other hand, my nook doesn't hold a charge worth crap anymore and it is maybe 4 years old.

I haven't found the need for a tablet yet (but I assume in a year or two I'll want one), but I'd get a Ipad, just based on my expirence with my ipod.

IPad all the way. There is simply no comparison right now. Been using one for 2+ years and it replaces my laptop for 90% of my work.

I agree; Have an iPad 2. Get the larger screen size.

Does anybody know if the Galaxy 2 has a mini flash USB input?

What do you want to do with it? I switched last year from a 3rd gen iPad (upgraded from the 1st gen) to a Surface, and haven't looked back. Not a perfect product, but I love it a ton. Having MS office on it, and having Office 2013 on my desktop is awesome. All of my documents sync automatically between the two.

Apps aren't quite there, but have improved significantly since I purchased it in November. Having Flash and a mouse to use when needed is awesome as well. The ability to multitask is nice, such as having Netflix open and having another app open at the same time.

That said, if you want just casual usage and iPad might be the better product. Very refined with a ton of apps. For android, I'd give the $200 Nexus 7 a look too, great small tablet regardless of the price.

I love the Nexus tablets. My wife has an ipad which works well for facebook and surfing, but I've found better office apps on the nexus than the ipad. So it really depends on what you want it to do. When comparing tablets you do need to compare equivalently priced products. A $200 android isn't going to compete quality wise to the $500 ipad, but the high end androids will.

BTW, If you want to watch movies on it then the ipad is the way to go as android doesn't support the digital copies of movies. There are less than legal ways around that, but it isn't the best solution.

iPad for sure. Using mine to comment here:)

Shocking recommendation coming from Macclone.

If you already have Apple products I'd stick with them. If you currently have Android phones, consider Android tablet. Mixing between iTunes, Google Play, drive, picassa, etc... (and/or Amazon app store and cloud services) can be a pain.

Never seen or know anyone that owns a windows tablet which might be saying something.

Explain that movie comment please.
