Childress stays another year due to the fact that his wins over the past three years have trended up and they made the playoffs and won the division this year. If they didn't make it in, then Ziggy fires him.

T-Jack has improved immensely, he can't make all the throws yet, but he does play within his knowledge/capabilities and has shown flashes of excellence. Great deep ball, very illusive.

I think next year is going to tell the tale of Childress and T-Jack. Minnesota is poised to take the next step in '09 - '10. If it doesn't happen, bye bye Childress and hello new coach.

The Vikings will never really go anywhere with TJ and Childress. The clock management at the end of the game was the worst since missing our time to pick in the draft. It's sad that we spent all off season banking on TJ and not looking for a real QB when 90% of the fanbase knew he was going to suck. Childress should go back to being on Major Dad, I think Tice was 10x the coach.
Nobody wanted to win that NFC North Division and it took luck for the Vikes to get it. As die hard purple and gold as I am, I think the Eagles will totally dismantle us in the postseason.
I hope I'm wrong.

Both TJ and Childress still make too many mistakes, but I see them both slowly getting better as they work through OJT. I wouldn't pull the plug on either one until they prove that they have hit their ceiling.

I've suffered through much worse coaching and QB play with the Vikings. The Childress team is light years ahead of Tice when it comes to drafting and acquiring talent. Part of that is the upgrade in ownership, but at least Childress appears to have a plan in place. There are still a couple of positions to address, but the roster is being upgraded each year. Going back a few years, Green choked away a couple chances to win it all with the best talent in the league. The current coaching staff at least knows that you have to play on both sides of the ball. Fortunately, I've come very close to erasing all memories of Les Steckle.

For this year, The Vikings actually match up decently against the Eagles. They are probably a 1-2 years away from advancing to the SB, but they will still be the team to beat in the North for the next few years.

I don't think Jackson can lead a team to the playoffs at this point. He makes too many bad throws and holds on to the ball to long. He hasn't lasted a whole season yet which worries me as well.

He didn't last a whole season this year b/c he was pulled after the first 2 games, not b/c of injury.

I would. A really good QB is all that is needed to turn the Vikes from a mediocre team into a legitimate championship contender. Tavaris would be the 3rd string guy on some teams.

The Vikings need to improve at WR, DB, and QB to make a championship run. They have some guys there right now, they just need to continue to grow

Also, I could make the argument that Tavaris could start for about 5 other teams in the league right now

How many Super Bowls has the Vick-Prototype QB won or played in? The last 10 years starting QBs inthe playoffs - Favre, Elway, Chandler, Warner, McNair, Dilfer, Collins, Brady, Johnson, Gannon, Delhomme, McNabb, Roethlisberger, Hasselbeck, Manning bros., Grossman.

T Jack is a vick prototype? Vick ran over 110 times a season 3 times. Jackson has ran 95 times in 3 seasons. So basically he runs 3 times less than Vick did.

Tjack is more like McNair, McNabb, Elway, Gannon in that they can run when need be but they aren't truly runners (note, I am not comparing him to one of those QB's, just their style)

Totally agree. T-jack was never a Vick style QB. He was drafted as a passer. Look at his college career. Look at his pro stats. Not a running quarterback by any means. Yes, he can move, but scrambling has never really been his game, and certainly not what he is known for. What exactly would make anyone think that Jackson was a Vick Style QB? I hate to go there, but perhaps people are looking at his ethnic background and making assumptions without really knowing anything about the situation.

I must be watching wrong player.
21 starts over 3 seasons compared to Vick's 330 carries in 48 games. Makes sense.
