Almost forgot about the special teams!

PK- Carmona
KOR- Sumrall, Bell, Sandvig

I am praying Carmona is the real deal as a kicker, but who knows with JUCOs. Perhaps the kid from Johnston comes in and takes the job, who knows. BIG area of concern. Sumrall, Bell and Sandvig give us a good group of 3 returners to choose from. Bell and Sandvig have big return potential, and Sumrall has experience.

P- Brandtner
PR- Bell, Sandvig
DS- Wonders, ?

Wonders will be fine as our LS, sounds like the coaching staff is happy with him there. Brandter really seemed to be getting used to the new punting formation by the end of the year. I think he struggled with it at first. He will pick up where he left off this year. I know many of you are probably dropping your jaw at the sight of Sandvig anywhere near the punt returning spot, but I guarantee the staff gives him another shot next year, as he has a ton of potential back there. Bell's speed makes him a obvious choice as a returner, provided he has good ball security.

You won't have Blythe to kick around returning punts. He did not fumble.

I was wondering about Summrall not returning punts this year. I would like to see him back there again. I also think that Sandvig can be good at returning punts, he just needs to get it in his head he can.

He also rarely caught the ball. He would signal for a fair catch and then run away. I did not like how we abandoned the punt return aspect of the game and felt that it took away potential field position gains.

Blythe was not a good punt returner. I thought we could have used Sumrall there. I thought he did a decent job the year before.

Yeah Sumrall or Allen Bell would have both been solid alternatives. I remember when Baum caught a punt (if he didn't muff it) he always gave us a chance for a big play. Anyone who saw Sandvig in HS knows he is a talent with the ball in his hands, but thats the problem...getting it into his hands. If he can overcome his Rick Ankiel-esque mental stuff he could really be a threat for us.

Who is this kicker you speak of?? Carmona?? And details.

Well you asked for it. Carmona is the field goal kicker for the Mexico City Pinatas of the Mexico Semi-pro league. But don't worry, he didn't receive any stipends although there were a few skill position guys who seemed to have too much tequila. He will certainly be eligible this next season. The NCAA couldn't possibly impose any eligibility sanctions on him.
