Couple of times a month I see kilt clad guys at the store. Never had the courage to ask how they came to select the garment as day wear. (Romantic nights maybe). One guy also opts for krocks to round out the look.

Anyone here ever wear a kilt?

Plaid is so 90's grunge!

(no never did consider it. I did wear a nightshirt to bed and lounging in my hotel room a few times while traveling. Didn't really like sleeping in that but wasn't bad for lounging wear.)

These are black and dark brown, and one has a satchel hanging from the belt (lucky charms?)

They are much more common among those of Irish and Scottish descent. Never gone traditional, but preferring to still have some undergarment (boxer briefs and biker shorts for me). The pouch hanging about the waist is called a sporan, and is great for carrying keys, phone, etc. They can be basic or highly decorative. A kilt breaths a bit better than shorts, but depending on the material, they can also be warm. I would recommend cotton for warmer months for sure.

Don't have Scottish blood, so no. Was actually shopping on line this morning for lederhosen. I've always wanted a legit set for Oktoberfest. Jawohl. Prost!

So the Scottish are the ones who started the Fanny pack?

funny enough I brought this up as a joke the other day at work that it would be an awesome idea potentially. now just to talk HR/Safety into accepting this... the fire rating is the big thing for us..

Wore a kilt for an English-style pheasant tower shoot on a 30 degree day. It was glorious...surprisingly very warm and absolutely liberating for the ol' under carriage.

My better half wears a kilt on occasion. He is not of Scottish descent (I am, did genetic testing, discovered I'm from the Wallace clan (!), but anyway, I digress...). We are dedicated Parrotheads, and he's been sporting a Utilikilt digi camo for several years at the all-day tailgates ahead of the epic concerts. Every now and then, you might see him at an early season Cyclone home game in a kilt. I believe he's got the survival kilt with all the extra pockets. I glanced at the website quickly, doesn't look like his exact model is available right now in camo.

Guysssss, if you didn't already know this ---> kilts are chic magnets. Woman cannot keep their hands off of him when he's in the kilt. See picture to see what happens over and over again when he's in his kilt.

When one wears a kilt, the only thing you wear under it is shoes. Undergarments turn a kilt into a skirt. :|

This thread caused me to spend an hour watching kilt-wearing videos on YouTube. Seems like the original garment, essentially a big, cleverly folded wool blanket with a belt, was quite different from the Victorian-era-styled garment most people wear today.

My mother's brothers all wore full kilt for formal occasions, and all were buried in their kilts. Then again, that side of the family identifies very strongly with their ancestral clan, MacNeil of Barra.

Not me personally, but the guy who lived in the apartment above me at one point did. I had been kind of semi-friendly with him, but that day was a deal breaker. To be fair, wasn’t the kilt so much as the Confederate flag tattoos on both calves.

True story: The last dude I saw wearing a kilt was a greeter at Walmart.

Says it all, really.

Yeah, I get being proud of your heritage and wanting to keep traditions alive. But it seems like there is a lot of overlap between the folks who are outspoken about their Scottish or Nordic roots (I'm a Highlander, Clan McMuffin! Or, I'm a viking!) and white nationalism. Obviously painting with a very broad brush, but that's been my experience.

I heard I’m part of the McLovin clan.
