My recruiting guide

One night stand: lucky to get commit, probably not going to last.
Dating: Chance signing will happen, but pretty hot commodity.
Engaged: Amazing relationship. Hope one of the big boys don't come calling.
Married: Fought off all the late suitors and time for a beer.

This is pretty close, but needs another level:

"In the starting line up" - Interest
"1st Base" - Offer
"2nd Base" - Verbal Commitment
"3rd Base" - NLI
"Home Run" - Actually enrolled at ISU and showed up on campus!

At this point, a 2019 commit only has the potential to hurt the school. This kid will continue to be recruited by other schools and he'll likely continue to listen. So there's no advantage to the school to have a commit.

But, a commit may cause other recruits to not consider ISU because they have their 2019 QB figured out. So if you're the coaching staff, why wouldn't you just tell the kid, thanks for your interest let's keep this internal until next year.

Dwan committed to MSU today for anyone interested, no word as to whether he'll be taking interviews on his decision.

Or you can use the baseball analogy:
1st base - interest
2nd base - offer
3rd base - verbal committment
HR - signed NLI[/QUOTE]

Comes out of dugout and tips hat to the crowd after the HR--- actually shows up on campus
