FYI These guys beat NDSU and UNI last year. QB has significant experience. But DL in particular is very young.

Split with UNI last year. UNI beat them pretty handily in the regular season and SDSU won in the playoffs, both games in Brookings. NDSU would have blown them out if they'd have seen each other in the playoffs if the bracket had worked out right.

SDSU is a better matchup than UNI. Not as athletic, not as fast, not as well coached. Geodert and Weineke graduating is a huge deal. Those two made that offense dynamic. SDSU is still really solid but really overrated right now. They aren't anywhere close to the semi-final team they were last year.

I like Iowa State pretty comfortably. If Marcus Weymiller can get 170, David Montgomery can get 250. Iowa State 42-14.

Just once it would be nice to have an FCS team on the schedule that isn't a top ten national title contender. It would be a refreshing change of pace if the pessimistic fans were expecting the starters to play most of the third quarter while the optimists were expecting the 1st string to spend the 2nd half in sweats and eating hot dogs.

Seriously though, is there a reason we keep scheduling tougher fcs foes? I really don't see much benefit in doing this.

Not exactly a great campaign statement for if ISU is bad at football when realignment comes back around.

The CPR era is over.

Time to accept challenges and hopefully not let an FCS team be any kind of issue.

Don't disagree, but there are more than a few FBS teams out there that are not the caliber of the FCS schools we've been scheduling.

Its fcs. If we can't handle them easily which I think we will then our program hasn't moved to far in the right direction.

Certain FCS programs can hang with anyone. Didn't UNI go up and play in a dog fight @Wisconsin the year they went to the Rose Bowl? UNI nearly beat Iowa the year they won the Orange Bowl. NDSU beat K-State when they went 9-4. Appalachian State beat a 9 win Michigan team.

The top 10 FCS--when ready to fight-- are some serious dogs.

"We were going to include ISU in our super conference but they scheduled weak FCS teams. Do. Not. Want."

Exactly. There are luke 120 FCS teams, right? Yet somehow we have an endless parade of contenders year in and year out. NDSU, SDSU, and UNI. Nobody cares what FCS school you play, unless you lose or have a close call, then it is a national story. Take a look at who the big bad SEC schools are playing. It is a total joke. Playing a top tier FCS school is a gamble without a potential payout.

These ain't your father's Cyclones. We are going to roll them up early and decisively. 14 point offshore spread is way too easy. Take Iowa State to cover by double that at the very least. I'll say Iowa State 45 SD State 14 (garbage time TD to get to double digits)

True, but that's still not a good look to lose to a lesser division school, or to complain about it from a P5 perspective.
