Could we put Beat Iowa on the back of the uniforms for that game....ISU has done it before....It didn't fare well the first time...but this time it very well could...

First, when did Criner or Walden ever have the team wear gold jerseys?
I meant that obnoxious color of yellow in general.

Why do you people want to TINKER with logo's, uniforms constantly?---good god.
who in the flying fu- does this?

What school constantly changes colors, hues, uni's as much as ISU???

Oregon---but it's part of their image...and branding.....There is a method to their madness.

The visitors' locker room at Kinnick was painted pink in order to give a psychological advantage to the home team. It would be more difficult to inspire players to hit harder when they are surrounded in pink. Therefore, when we play Iowa this year, we should wear pink unis. Think about it - how can Iowa make aggressive tackles on someone wearing pink? How can their receivers concentrate on catching the ball when they are laughing? How can the officials call us for unneccesary roughness when we look so innocent?

<<ring ring>>
Ummm, hello?
Yes, the Mental Ward called and your room is ready...complete with padded wallpaper you ordered...

SERIOUSLY? PINK?

This one made me laugh, but, in a word - NO!

Perhaps we should take note. Love or hate those unis, they helped start some sort of image of "cool."

Who said anything about tinkering with logos, colors, and uniforms? Not me. For the most part I happen to be satisfied with the the current identity, the I-State logo (although I think the new Cy logos should be dumped and either have the whirlybird brought back or have a Cy logo made that doesn't resemble a pot-bellied stoner), and the football uniforms. Using an alternate jersey/uniform once a year IS NOT tinkering with the uniforms as you claim, especially when it matches the pattern of the existing unis.

By the way, hate to break it to you, but that "gawdawful" yellow that you hate so much, for the most part, is the same "yellow" that ISU has used since the late 1960s, perhaps with slight pigment variation over the years.

I can only hope Hoiberg brings back the all-gold unis that the team frequently wore during the Floyd and Morgan eras. Those things were sweet.

I liked it when we busted out the special golds in basketball for big games and I liked it when we did it in football last year. It isn't whether the look is fashionable, it is whether or not it give the players a sense of something special.

Something silly like a special uni can give a team an emotional lift because it is different. I say keep the special golds and bring them back in basketball. Break them out for important games. Let it be something the team and the fans can rally around.

We had alternate uniforms in high school and we loved it when the coach let us break them out. And, looking back, they were ugly. The important fact was they were special and we felt special when we put them on.

Maybe we should just be one of those teams that wears white at home, because I would put this look up against any other in the country...

So you're with me on the '76 unis? PUT THE '76 UNIS BACK ON, WHO'S WITH ME!!!???

Oh yeah, those were the best. I thought they were going to gives uni's similar to the ones in the 2007 Iowa game. Instead they did red helmet, bright yellow instead of gold, and dark dark red. If they would have just stuck with something like the ones in the 2007 Iowa game then I doubt you would see to many of the uniform debates.

Another reason to wear the whites at home: All the really big wins we've had since the uniform switch (except the bowl game) were on the road, in the white top/red bottom outfits.

You serious, Clark?

First, the unis aren't THAT different from the 2007 throwbacks - in fact, the uniforms the team is currently wearing is due to a public outcry after JP revealed new unis online that, quite frankly, sucked, and fans clamored for unis that resembled the throwbacks, which is what we have now.

Second, JP has already said gold helmets aren't going to happen because the logo doesn't work on gold - the object is to emphasize the "STATE" part of the logo, which would be absolutely lost on a gold helmet.

Third, this is a fan site message board - ******** is a way of life for a lot of people who spend a lot of time on fan sites, and you can bet your arse people would ***** about the 2007 throwbacks if they were our every game unis.

Kids love alternate uniforms and IMO there is nothing wrong with doing them. I would only like to see them done at home for big games, but that's up to CPR.

ISU should have uni's with different shades of yellow and red for every single game. What better way to solidify our national image amd recognition? Confuse the h#ll out of them.

I mean...skate boarders and half-pipers love the colors dude. Come on yo. Everyone is doing it

It's sic.....:realmad::spinny::twitcy::twitcy::twitcy::twitcy::twitcy::twitcy:

the shades of yellow and cardinal are all the same..i'm not sure what you're getting at? one alternate jersey that is worn one game per year is not going to make everyone confused

Where do you come up with this stuff? People are asking about the 2nd home jersey... in one of our two school colors... We aren't Oregon and aren't trying to be.

It's the 21st century, man!

Actually, it proves JP's point exactly - the goal is to emphasize the "STATE", not the "I", and on the gold background the "STATE" is blended out.

Besides, I really don't get why we just HAVE to have a gold helmet now just because we had one in the past. It's not like ISU hasn't used cardinal helmets in the distant past, either.

The unis.are just fine the way they are, and this has become yet another football uniform ***** thread..

I could buy into always wearing the road uniforms. It certainly wouldn't be unprecedented, and people would stop complaining that we copied USC, be they friend or foe. I don't think there's any way it would happen, especially considering the design is only going on its 5th year of use.
