Live near and work with a lot of KU fans. I dont know a single one that despises ISU. The only school they despise is Missouri. Most of them respect ISU, and note that its been a really fun series as of late. Most KU fans I know dont really seem to care about KSU and talk very little about them. .

Interesting. Just based off their message boards, and the 2015 Big 12 tournament, I get the impression that a good chunk of their fans really don't like us. Think our fanbase is classless white trash, etc.

I'll take your word on it. You have more experience and a broader base of knowledge on this than I do.

I will say that both times I went to Lawrence for football games (2012 and 2014) the fans were cool, had a positive opinion of ISU, and were looking forward to the basketball match up.

I would agree here. KU fans here in KC have a lot of respect for ISU in hoops and have acknowledged the intense games in the Hoiberg/Early Prohm era. Also, ISU has won 3 of the last 5 Big 12 Tourneys, and that isn't a fluke. ISU has been the best team to beat them/challenge the last 7+ years, even though they have continued to win the Conference Regular season. For the most part, they compliment Hilton as well, because...we care.

KU hates Missouri. The lame back and forth banter continues between the fan-bases down here. KU really doesn't care about KSU, rather, finds them annoying. They all think the "EMAW" thing is incredibly stupid (me included). Most say, "why isn't it E-PAW - Every Person a Wildcat instead of Every Man a Wildcat?" It makes more sense, also ties into that they are stupid cats (paw). Women fans not welcome?

Not to mention that everyone (The Entire Big 12) thinks Willie Wildcat is the dumbest looking mascot on the face of the Earth. Why does he have a human body? It's so terrible. Couldn't spring the $$$ to pay for a cat-body KSU?

Chuck loves him some J'hawks. They must give him a lot of validation after those games.

And the fact Willie the Wildcat is so annoying makes him a fabulous mascot. WTH do you think mascots are supposed to be, lovable like little Jay?

Not nearly as much as you like to hate on them. Have yet to meet a Jayhawk that is as insufferable as you.
Chuck, we all know you adore Ku. You want ISU to be Ku-lite. You even admire their silly mascot. Perhaps you're a sock-wearing Jayhawk? Whatever, there's no need to keep making your case for Ku, Chuck. It's accepted.

Eh, can we really talk though considering that our fight song lyrics say "loyal sons forever true" and if we changed it to be something gender-neutral a fairly significant (or at least vocal) part of our fanbase would be freaking out about the PC police?

No, "we" do not all know. This is something you try to spew in an effort to make me look bad, just because I point out facts about how KU completely dominates you in basketball. But as usual, you just make yourself look like a fool. Good for you!

Maybe for the past 15 years, but overall history is VA Tech.
Do you have a connection to either school? Because I'm pretty sure that isn't right. WVU's played Pitt 104 times since 1895 (compared to 52 times since 1912 for Virginia Tech) and they say "Eat ****, Pitt" not "Eat ****, Tech"

I like surly's definition of a rival. I don't understand all interstate rivalries. I get KU-Miz because of Kansas City, but how often do Michigan and Ohio State fans actually see each other? They can say they hate each other all they want, but on-field hate can only go so far. Like ISU-KSU football or ISU-KU basketball. I consider them rivals of sorts, but since I live in Iowa, the Iowa game is much more emotionally relevant since I interact with Iowa fans all the time. It's more emotional for me than a rational objectification of what games are most important, or what would be the biggest upset.
I think ku-miz hate is civil war related.

I agree with that. I think that KU BB fans respect ISU because of close games and some losses here and there, but mostly because we actually care about MBB and most of the rest of the conference doesn't unless they have really good teams.

Nah, no animosity here. You have to remember that I'm an OSU fan. Crushed hopes and dreams are in our DNA. Many of us kept waiting for the shoe to drop during the season. It happened to be against you. Heck, had we beaten you, OU very well might have beaten the crap out of us the next week. Younger OSU fans have grown up with a successful program, so they really expect the team to do well. It's funny to see the younger ones ***** about a crappy bowl, not knowing that for a long time no bowl was the norm.

The way you guys messed with our basketball teams? Well, the way I see it, you were just getting payback for the 24 year winless streak in GIA (that streak still baffles me). In some sense though, we should thank you for the 4-5 year win streak against us that you were on, as it helped get rid of Ford.

Actually IMO ISU, OSU, and KSU, are all pretty similar and I kind of root for them except when they are playing us. Except for that KSU football game last yr to hell with that ref job. I don't mind it when we get beat fair, but that freakin sucked. How's your BB team looking next yr? Can Gundy hold off T. Boone for another yr? They sure don't seem to get along very well at least what you see in the media up here.

O we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
And may her colors ever fly.
Yes, we will fight with might for Iowa State,
With a will to do or die,
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Loyal sons forever true,
And we will fight the battle through.
And when we hit that line we'll hit it hard
ev'ry yard for I.S.U.

Just sayin'.

So yes, EMAW is incredibly stupid and off-putting for the ladies of KSU. But in general, it's just a really dumb "saying/chant."

KU fans have an unhealthy obsession with Mel Weatherwax (still) and bring up other past incidents to knock ISU down, however most of them seem they want a traditional rival in the conference. I heard many hoping that ISU would be that rival.

The WVU/V'Tech series was suspended for a time due to ugly fan behavior. WVU calls Pitt - "Spit." So, like many schools, they seem to have more than one rival. Missouri can't seem to find one in their new league. SEC schools look down on them as little more than carpetbaggers.

Just sayin’ what though? “Her” in that sentence is referring to Iowa State and in general colleges in the u.s. are personified as female. The equivalent thing to look at is “loyal sons” because that’s referring to the students or fans.

I’m not saying emaw is or isn’t dumb. I’m just saying we have the same issue in our fight song
