After YEARS with Direct TV, we are trial using son-in-law's Sling (who are not college sports fans...). Will we be able to get the channels for Cyclone football? Is there some additional add on we need?

Dropped Direct TV in February. Have YoutubeTV now. Good decision.

For YouTubeTV, you may need to get the Sports Addon Package, as that gives you the three Fox College Sports Channels that Iowa State may have lesser-known games on.

1) Don't assume the grass is greener on the other side
2) I've had both Sling and YTTV
3) YTTV is night and day better, but more expensive. I love the unlimited recording feature. High profile games on Sling would get huge lag, and you'll be watching it in 480p in no time. It's also just slower.
The same also happens sometimes with YTTV, but not nearly as much.

Maybe you just need a better router/internet? I've had both, and very rarely (like once or twice a month) would have any buffering whatsoever.

We paused YTTV this summer and used the free trial of Sling through Verizon. Don't recommend Sling at all. The interface is terrible, the recordings were hard to get and there aren't locals available. If we pause YTTV again next summer I'd go without any TV over paying for Sling.

Ok, so it sounds like everyone here likes Youtube for college football........SO,

1) Can someone give me the info or link about how Youtube friends and family work? 2)If I sign up for trial/regular membership under my own account, does that prevent me from going the friends and family route? 3) Can I cancel Youtube at end of season with no charge?

I don’t know about 1 and 2, but regarding 3: you can cancel YTTV at any time without charge. There is no contract, its all month to month.

I've used Sling, YouTube TV, and Hulu live. Sling is ok to get by, but the interface isn't as nice and the channels are split in weird packages. Not the best experience, but worked well to pick up for a month to watch the NCAA tournament.

Hulu live has good quality streaming, better interface than sling, and more channels. Everything is an addon for price (dvr storage), but this option makes a lot of sense if you want to bundle with ESPN+ and Disney+.

YouTube TV has the best picture quality, best interface, and best dvr. I think it also has the best channel options for football.

You can cancel at any time. Can set up 3 accounts under one subscription.

We dumped Direct a year ago and got Youtube TV. Once you get the hang of it it is ok. Not perfect but for 100$ less per month we will deal with it. Watched every ISU football game last year no issues at all.

I like FuboTV for college football. It has local channels, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNNews, ESPNU, FS1, FS2, BTN, SEC, ACC, all the Pac 12 Networks, Stadium, CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network… just about every channel you need to watch every FBS games other than maybe a game on LHN or some third tier game somewhere.

Downsides are no Turner channels (TBS, TNT, CNN, TruTV) and maybe no regional sports network, but I’m not sure about that one.

AT&T TV is the only streaming service that carries the Bally(Fox) RSNs. YTTV carries the NBC regional networks

AT&T is also the only one that currently carries my RSN, Root Sports Northwest, which is the only one that still has the Root Sports name. Hoping somebody else picks it up before the Kraken start their season.

I was able to watch every televised game last year on YTTV.
