I would cation individuals who are thinking about selling food items that requires cold/hot handling out of their residency because that would typically be frowned upon by the health department

Get licensed and you are good to go. My mom has a baking company she runs part time out of her house. Licensed through the county.

You know, if anyone is interested.

With baby # 3 on the way, I was reviewing our budget recently our family budget is going to get extremely tight with two kids in daycare for the next couple of years. Any recommendations for any side jobs to help supplement income?
Gamble. I used to play poker. Now I bet on sports. The big difference is I actually made money playing poker!

I umpired Parks and Rec adult softball a couple of seasons when my dude was little. Two games a night for $35 bucks game with an hour and a half time limit on each one. It was nice because my wife could bring our son out to say hi and he could hit the playground.

The worst part was the lowest level coed leagues of college kids. The girls were trashed and the guys thought they were still playing on their high school team. The higher level teams just basically played. They knew when they were safe or out and kept things moving. Easy money and you got to hang out at the ballpark and spit sunflower seeds. Oh yeah, most nights there would always be a beer in the parking lot for you if you wanted it.

What's a part-time grain truck operator pay? Hours? Is there demand?
Truck drivers are in the greatest demand they have ever been in with the most leverage and highest wages they’ve had in decades. Whatever you are driving. Great time to drive truck in todays economy.

My advice would be to not start a side hustle, and instead gain skills, a degree, or a certification in your career field that will make your earning potential higher. What those skills are are going to vary depending on the field you are in. Talk to your boss. They may offer some sort of tuition or skills/certification re-imbursement. They may have a need within the company for someone to do X, and willing to pay for you to gain the skills necessary to fill that gap and potentially earn more.
I definitely agree with this. Unless the side gig is a trade or profession you intend to transition to full time at some point or it’s a hobby that you enjoy I think most people would be best served to invest that time and money into their current occupation.

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to try to get a side hustle going with my art, mostly architectural-style drawings. It’s been years since I’ve done much, but I got going again in early December. My wife started posting what I was working on on Instagram, and two commissions have come through so far, but I have a couple of other ideas once I get a body of work built up.

Those two years I spent in architecture might finally start to pay off.

This is great except it's not always that simple since depending on the profession, those things can cost money. Some companies/professions take care of tuition but many don't.

Doing something like bussing tables or similar might take less time than more schooling.

So my wife spends >$100 per month on birdfood. Was wondering if there's a way to set up a web cam and sell subscriptions. I'm assuming you'd want to put in a filter to edit out people.

We see cardinals, thrushes, hummingbirds, bluebirds, indigo buntings, woodpeckers, flickers, cardinals, bluejays, orioles...and that's just off the top of my head.

Even if we only broke even, we could expense the birdfood

No idea how that works but that's a cool idea. Maybe an angle for calming activity or something like people do with the Decorah Eagles.

Ha! My mom said over Christmas that she spends $80 per month on sunflower seeds alone. I thought I must have misunderstood her, but maybe not. I do really love to see indigo buntings.

That's pretty rare for her. She has a lot of the smaller woodpeckers. A few years ago she had a scarlet tanager. That thing was striking. It looked tropical. The same year they had another tanager, which wasn't as pretty as the scarlet.

You can always set up a camera and put it on YouTube. You never know.
