"(assuming you are a high performer)"

If there is 1 thing I have learned in corporate America... It's that you HAVE to get greedy and take advantage of every situation. The system is set up to pay you as little as possible and and it's up to YOU, not your bosses to ask for the compensation.

Hear you on the maternity side. That a larger conversation, likely not had online.

I disagree on the threat, AGAIN, assuming you are a high performer. You have to look out for you own best interests. It's REALLY expensive and sometimes impossible to backfill talented employees. Fight for every dollar.

I totally agree with going after all the $$ you can assuming your performance warrants it. I'm saying make the business case to the employer, not go after their good will of "we're having a baby". Go after the "I'm a high performer, I've earned it and show future potential, it's a hot market, you don't want to lose me" aspect.

Exotic dancer? Most ag businesses are looking for part time work on weekends. Weekend stocking jobs.

Sadly, I've learned the hard way that hard work and performance only gets you so far. I needed to be more aggressive and creative in looking for those opportunities. I'm also at a stage in my career where I need challenged a little more and I feel like I can provide more to my employer.

What's a part-time grain truck operator pay? Hours? Is there demand?

Memories - my dad drove a feed truck part time when little Cascade was just an infant! I think he worked for them thru the summer too (he was a teacher).

And people wonder why there is less of a desire to have kids. This thread is both depressing and informative.

And why workforce participation is lower than it could be. The math on daycare costs makes one parent leaving the workforce the better option for many parents

You or the Mrs. have any baking or dessert decorating skills? It might not take much to be properly licensed by your county’s health department to have a legitimate business.

Someone mentioned plasma ....it can be a decent amount if you say get up and go before work (get in/out before others) if it's on the way to work, etc.

Didn't read every post, but if one of you does stay home for childcare, see if there is another family that needs care and you could make money watching someone else's child (as they may be excited to pay you all less than other options).

Actually a really good idea. I talked to someone that got into making charcuterie boards and made good money...literally would take orders and just buy in bulk, cut stuff up, and assemble. Same could be done with cookies, cupcakes, etc.

Yep. Learned that the hard way too.

I would cation individuals who are thinking about selling food items that requires cold/hot handling out of their residency because that would typically be frowned upon by the health department
