Has Vegas opened odds yet on how many seasons before everyone else we interviewed goes on to lead other teams to bowl games, national championships, and NFL coaching positions? Nope, they haven't because we cancelled all the other interviews anyway.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, all his other coaching attributes are what brought him to JP's attention and his faith was just a nice plus on top of it all.

I'm an atheist and could care LESS about his faith or lack thereof.

Awesome. I'm a Christian and couldn't care LESS about his faith or lack thereof. Just win. Which Campbell has done a lot of at Toledo.

I'd stay away from the Missouri job if I was a head coaching candidate with multiple options at this point. I could argue to stay away from Iowa State, but for much less serious reasons.

Funny, people mocking Campbell for his faith (the biggest "WHO CARES" factor out of this entire thing).

People mocked Prohm too - seems to be doing okay so far.

How is saying 'this shouldnt be a key element in a hire at a public institution' 'mocking his faith'?

So who did u want, Fleck?

No although I can see an argument for him. I wanted fritz. Midwest guy...juco connections.... won everywhere he has been. His Oc can adjust to talent.... his resume reads like a perfect hire for isu.

Campbell's reads like a coordinator from a school like Texas. Wins with better athletes and facilities. Not innovative.

offnse doesn't score nearly enough for this league.

This is the entire problem with campbell. Toledo was good before he took ove and it's usually one of the better teams in the mac.

wow...

Man this sucks we're potentially hiring a coach that has run a successful program. Gawd I am peeved beyond christian belief. The NERVE!

ISU isnt as hard of a job as many people are saying. How many other places can you be loved for eternity as long as you win 6 games most years?

Yeah, we wouldn't want a coach from a a good program with a winning tradition. Give me a break.

But his offense DOES score enough for the league he plays the vast majority of his games in. That counts for something, right?

Bro, we get it. You liked that chizik pushed his religion on people. We get it. It's not appropriate....Christian or not!

That's why you got so upset with the suggestion that it shouldnt be a factor.

Yes I will be very ******. Toledo won 8 games the previous two years before he became coach.

They were already good in the mac. He sustained it. Good for him. Watched the game in toledo vs isu. Was not impressed then or last year.

When will we learn? Take a proven coach who can win with less talent.

chizik 2.0 on the way.
What makes it Chizik 2.0? Chizik wasn't a head coach, coached at Texas, was a defensive guy....

Religion is probably a good thing for a coach. Most of our recruits come from the more religious parts of the country, and it could help in recruiting. Works for Scott Drew, at least.

As long as he doesn't want to hire a team chaplain/bag man like Chizik.

It is funny how quickly people come running to throw a candidate under the bus. I think we owe it to anybody coming in to give them the benefit of the doubt before we label them as a failure. There is a lot of merit to what someone has done in the past, but we can't pretend to know if it will or will not translate until the guy has had a chance to run the program his way and get his recruits in the fold. I am excited! Welcome Campbell (if true)!!

I think Campbell is a solid hire GIVEN the circumstances. When FS1 showed all the P5 openings during the game, I was thinking we'd be very lucky to get any current mid major or higher head coach. We don't have the best reputation of coaches being successful as well which was working against us. Could we have done better? Maybe but its a high risk low reward if we kept looking due to all of the P5 openings. If we had waited, we may have found ourselves in the same situation as KU, get a P5 position coach at best.

Maybe Fritz wasn't that into us? Maybe he stays put? Maybe there are 2 sides to a search - identifying a candidate you want and having the candidate want you as well.
