Keep telling yourself that.

Would they do the same? Possibly. However, its pretty clear that Campbell has been offered the job, and is just using us as leverage. Nothing out there suggests this has happened from the Fritz camp, but keep putting words in my mouth if you'd like

did everyone know that the UP was a gift from the federal government to Michigan when they lost Toledo to Ohio in the Michigan-Ohio war?

personally, i'll take the UP.

I had no idea this was a thing. And I am kind of a history buff. By far the most informative post in this entire thread.

Who would go to Mizzu right now with what's going on campus and the football team willing to strike at the drop of a hat? See ya if that's what you're into.

My guess is that there is a lot of booster pressure to hire the DC for that reason and the second interview is to appease them if he doesn't get the job. Or he could be the legit leader, who knows.
Depends how many guys get second interviews. If, at Mizzou, second interviews are pretty common and multiple candidates typically get them, no biggie. If the second interview is typically more of an opportunity to talk numbers and let all the big whigs vet him, then I'm not sure you want to go there if you intend to cut him loose. That would only fuel the fire.

I hate to say this...but IF I had to guess I'd say that Campbell's agent did this because he doesn't want his hot young client getting drug into FB hell. He's pushing MU's hand...we'd already heard that MU wanted Campbell prior to today. This is going to make them pull the trigger IMHO and at that point I'd guess there isn't a chance in hell that we get him to Ames.

My problem with your statement is "Just hire Fritz" already. There is nothing out there that Fritz is even interested in the job nor that he has interviewed, or that he will even take an interview. But even if he does interview, it would likely be the same situation as Campbell - to gain leverage.

Disillusioned fans, or even fans who never were sold on Campbell in the first place, saying "Just hire Fritz" is as much of a cart before the horse, if not even more so, than we've been doing with Campbell all day as there's been little to no interest shown from either side.

I guess I'm just getting a bad feeling about Campbell. It's hard for me to set aside the business part since I'm a passionate fan, so I don't like it when I feel we're being used. In the end, I just want someone who will win here

And I can respect that. It must be the whole "in another lifetime with a different set of choices I could be a total sociopath" thing because for whatever reason I'm able to divorce my emotions from this coaching search. I'd like Campbell as coach, but for whatever reason I'm not disappointed or upset that he took Missouri's interview and is likely even using ISU as leverage.

I agree and no one will even remember this when September rolls around anyway if Coach Campbell is on the sideline for the UNI game.

I feel pretty much exactly the same. My mindset from the get go has been wake me when its over. That is to say, I don't really care who if it means wins.

. Coaches use leverage when negotiating with teams they already work for let alone teams they don't even coach for yet so your attitude is probably the way to go .

It obviously isn't a better job than the Bulls job, but I think coaching at ISU would be a LOT more fun and enjoyable. If it were me, I'd never leave ISU for the Bulls unless I just couldn't get along with my AD at all.

NBA basketball is just SO boring IMO. I don't think I could stomach watching 82 games of that crap every year as head coach. Terrible basketball, lame crowds, tons of meaningless games, etc, etc, etc. It's not for me obviously, but I guess it was for Fred. Kudos to him.

That was a double back-handed compliment. Well done!

But isn't it just like a manu where you can pick who you want?
