Pollard needs a high risk high reward hire like Hoiberg was. It will be painful for many. Campbell is low risk medium reward in my opinion.

Wrong hire wrong time. The football program will never move forward with Pollard as AD.

Cool story Bro.

Just curious, and maybe a stupid question, why does it matter if a leak happens? Is it just a Pollard thing that he gets offended by?

The only reason I would want to keep something like this secret is to prevent other maybe interested schools from coming in at the last second and stealing them.

Agree completely.

Are we in the Big 12 or not? We can't keep paying people the worst salary in the league and expect to win. Football pays all the bills for the athletics department. You would think that might be important.

But Cross Country is the most important!

Pollard is terrible.

That and I think Campbell would want to keep his options open for others schools, like Missouri. If it leaks that he will accept an offer from ISU before it's official, it completely shuts off his options elsewhere. Coaching searches are never over until a contract is signed.

Wasn't part of the leak that we canceled other interviews? If so, it may be more than just the Campbell camp leaking things.

If Campbell slips through our fingers AND we've cancelled all other interviews, we could really be in a world of hurt folks.

At that point we probably are looking at hiring West Des Moines Valley's head coach.

Still an upgrade from Rhoads.

If Pollard takes a candidate shopping an offer personally then he needs to get over it. People want to get paid and find the best job they can if they leak it or not. It would be really hypocritical to fire Rhoads for not winning and for Pollard not to take a look in the mirror at how he approaches coaching hires. Grow up and pay for a winner. The football coach is the biggest money making position on campus.

Are we upset by speculation now? Are we really complaining about Pollard's negotiating based off of your own panicked posting?

If you're going the West Des Moines route at least make the hire Tom Wilson from Dowling.

If Pollard walks away because somebody said something on Twitter the dude needs to go, immediately.

Do not walk away from the best option again because of social media

It's a little more involved than just "somebody...on Twitter." This was a Sports Illustrated writer.

It's rare that I agree with clonedude but if we really did cancel the other interviews as has been reported, and Campbell does fall through, I bet we're looking at Leipold

Not exactly sure.
Didn't mizzou's pinkel announce awhile ago? You'd think they would have things somewhat wrapped up. VT is supposed to have Fuentes and they have know about as long. I don't think mizzou is a very attractive place. You have players that have pulled a power play and their HC had to back so you might step into a disciplinary situation.

Yes, but we can't be sure where the leak came from. The Campbell camp, the ISU camp, someone at the recruitment agency...
