A lot of those guys have been through a lot. Twice on the doorstep of a division title, a bowl victory, and a coaching change. I appreciate the effort they've given, especially this year when it would have been real easy for them to pack it in midseason.

I hope everyone gets into the stadium for the players introductions.

I am sad to see all of this talent leave the team. It is too bad they didn't have the depth and experience early on in the season to be competitive, we might have been competing for a post season game.

Nevertheless I am happy with the way the underclassmen have stepped up now and I hope they are able to send the seniors out winners. Any idea if they are still doing that senior bowl thing that Mac used to have for the players? An excellent idea IMO, and a good way to motivate the team to finish strong after a season like this one.

you know for how much of a failure this season was supposed to be or what certain ppl proclaim it to be, if you really look back at it, we weren't that horrible. I know we only have 2 wins, but a play or two different and it could be 4 or more. We played a phenomenal Oklahoma team and almost won. Nebraska looked tough at the beginning but neverless we stayed somewhat close in that game and lost our non Big 12 games by few points some or at least one of them should have been won. I feel looking over the season as a whole from now. We accomplished alot from day one to how we are playing now and even though those senior leaders are leaving Gene has already made such an impact on our football team.

Its hard to see all of that talent leave and I think that most of us really thought that Blythe and Meyer would be thinking Heisman their senior years....Things didn't go our way, but the future looks bright! I hope that the NFL picks up some of these guys.

in 2004 and 2005 most would have probably expected bigger results these last two years, but looking at that list I see a bunch of guys who gave their all and worked hard through the past two tough seasons. Not much hype behind most of these guys when they arrived besides Blythe and maybe Meyer, don't remember what kind of recruit Ace was.

But they had lots of adversity through position changes, injuries/health, being undersized, walk-ons. I am glad to say these guys are Cyclones.

Shoot.... I just posted on the "Chizik Press Conference" thread before I saw this thread, and I guess what I posted there would have been more appropriate here:

http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/football/15445-chiziks-monday-press-conference.html#post232807

I really enjoyed the part, starting around mid-way through the conference, when Gene started talking about the Seniors.

When he was describing how Bryce Braaksma took the move from DE to undersized DT... that made me really proud of him, and all of our Seniors. This is really a great group of young men, and I hope everyone shows them a HUGE amount of appreciation at their last game at JTS on Saturday.

Thanks for your attitude and all your hard work, guys. You make us proud to cheer for the Cyclones.

IF you don't show up at Jack Trice for the last game for guys like BRET MEYER and TODD BLYTHE and ALVIN BOWEN...you are not a Cyclone. They may not have been the most succcessful guys in terms of W/L's but damn have there been some good moments and good years in the near past with these guys.

We MUST show the respect these guys deserve for their effort and determination. They deserve to beat Colorado and get high-fived and carried off the field for their time here at Iowa State. Plus, if we want to get better - we need to show recruits the love we have for those that play for us!!!!!!!!!

GO CYCLONES!!! Keep improving and let's beat the Buffs on Senior Day!!!!
