That was one of the more into-it crowds of the entire season. And, UNLV actually brought fans, which made it seem like a real tournament game. A group behind the up judge were likely from Spirit Lake as one player on their roster was from there. The rest that sat behind the visitor's bench in the first and third sets seemed to all have traveled here from Vegas.
The last two matches, it took ISU a set to get warmed up and show some spark. We dropped that first set to UNT, but then powered through the rest of it pretty well. Yesterday, it took coming back from being down 24-20 to force extra points for a 31-29 win. The second set ISU led by 9 at one point, winning by 6. In the third, ISU got clobbered 25-13 and it was never close after UNLV pulled ahead, 9-8. ISU held off a set point in the fourth and won 26-24.
It's nice to see this group fight through difficulties. They have a goal (the tournament title) and they're doing everything they can to get there. I don't know that this type of mind-set was there in mid-season when the team went 3-9 during a stretch. But I'm glad it's there now.
