I don't know how many here are anime fans or like to watch random things on Netflix, but to me the saddest death would be Carla Magnolia from the show Violet Evergarden.

If we are doing anime I’d go:

Kira’s dad in Death Note
Sasha in Attack on Titan
Kaworu in Neon Genesis Evangelion

Kanaan in Star Wars Rebels
Splinter in the TMNT reboot in like 2016. Honestly extremely sad

I didn't realize there were so many Futurama fans here on CF. Makes me feel good that so many people knew who Seymour is.

Not many of my real life friends are animation fans or who have a clue as to what I was referring to. And why I value CF.

That show's ability to not age has been great.

I still catch plenty of things on reruns that I didn't notice on other viewings.

Soichiro's death was low, even by Light's standards.
Potato Girl... Niku.

I've seen Evangelion before, but Kaworu has me stumped a bit, even after reading up on it. I think I remember it in the back of my mind, but Evangelion was just so weird that my memories about it are random.

I know SAO gets a lot of hate in the anime community, but Yuuki's death was definitely one of the most heartbreaking ones in anime.

And with season 2 of Mushoku Tensei coming out next year, and having read every novel released in English to date, so knowing exactly what season 2 is going to cover... not going to spoil anything, but, well, yeah.

And I know it's technically not anime, but Pyrrha Nikos in RWBY.

NGL, I stopped watching NCIS after Kate died.
Any time a character dies, my wife and I both look at each mother and say, dude they got Kated.

She was great in that role. We got Ziva afterwards, but still.

If I’m being honest I haven’t watched Evangelion in so long I might be thinking of a different name. I was youngish when I watched it and it was incredibly shocking to me at the time.

I have never watched SAO or honestly a lot of anime and I’m fairly recently into it. Honestly basically since attack on titan. Basically I’ve watched AoT, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and now Chainsaw Man which absolutely slaps and might be the most violent show ever put on TV.

Tom on Blacklist. Epic scene. Playing Disturbed’s “Sound of Silence” through the whole thing was genius television.

Too bad the show basically went to **** after that

The original run of Futurama is some of my favorite television ever. The humor runs from the lowest of the low brow to incredibly high concept, and everything in between. I can watch any of those episodes and be wholly entertained.

It was something I started getting into toward the end of 2019, and then as COVID really reared its ugly head in early 2020 it really helped me cope with being basically confined to my home for extended periods of time. And I've become a big fan since.

The thing about Sword Art Online is it's an extremely popular anime, especially in Japan, especially when it first came out a decade ago. But that was also a time when the algorithm YouTube used rewarded content creators for making "hate videos", and with SAO being extremely popular, it became an easy target for these creators. A decade later you have a lot of people who have never seen a second of SAO that are convinced that it's the worst anime ever created based on videos that were designed to abuse a system for money - which it's not. I'm not saying it's the best anime or it's perfect (especially not in the Fairy Dance (season 1 part 2) or parts of season 2), but a lot of the hate is unwarranted - and a lot of people actually backed off of their hate based on the Alicization arc, which was that good. I will say if you ever decide to watch it, avoid all internet talk about it - both good and bad - and form your own opinions about it.

And Chainsaw Man is a trip. The opening has so many movie references in it, and watching a side-by-side comparison of the opening with these clips is quite unbelievable.

How about the death of all that is holy that you experience after watching "that scene" in Brand New Cherry Flavor?

Buffy's mom (Joyce Summers) in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This is a great episode, and is heralded as one of the better episodes in all of TV. Even if you've never watched Buffy, it's a good stand-alone to watch without needing a lot of backstory.

That was a great episode. Big turning point in the series.

That death was so brutal and gruesome I quickly lost interest in the show after that. Maybe made it one more season.
Same here. For whatever reason that episode where Glenn dies made me lose interest when I was super in to the series.

I did not really ever watch ER, but was watching the episode where the one main Dr goes on vacation with his daughter and dies. I guess because I’ve always had that “what would you do if you knew you didn’t have long” thought. That episode always stuck with me.

Also the MASH episode with Blake was tough. I only knew it as a kid in syndication. Never really watched but I have a ton of memories building stuff with legos with MASH in the background.
