The House Settlement is going to solve everything, Deloitte is going to work perfectly and there won't be any lawsuits, booster egos will go away, Congress is going to trip over each other trying to file bills to codify everything and the B1G and SEC are going to do an about face and cut everybody into a TV deal that they've never shown any interest of pursuing.
Good job here. And you can also quit badmouthing ADs who make rational business decisions based on on rational execution of TV deals that maximize those revenues. There are obvious exceptions to that like Rutgers but the billions of TV dollars being left on the table without media rights aggregation even financially impairs B10 schools like Rutgers.

We need more of these national Pat Forde writers calling out the Big 10 and SEC. A-hole and Big 12 hater Mandel actually did this too. All the others are too scared of losing their access to Sankey, Petitti, and other high level Big 10 and SEC leaders.
What happens if the Big 12 and ACC pull out of the college revenue sharing settlement? Wouldn't the Big 10 and SEC be the main targets as they have the most revenue and placed the most athletes in the league? I always thought it was a crock that the Big 12 and ACC has to pay the same amount as the Big 10 and SEC.
I can see the Big 10 and SEC breaking off, taking their tv partners with them, once the revenue sharing settlement is official, leaving the suckers Big 12 and ACC with their $22 million bags.

I would not want to be an AD right now, that's all I know. So much uncertainty and no idea how to budget anything because it is all changing so fast.
The auto bids are not to get more teams in the CFP, they are to get more money from CCG weekend. The problem with 2 is that you can’t really use that to create the conference championship weekend that the SEC and Big10 are planning to bring in even more revenue. They want to leverage those 4 spots to create two more games to play for the 3 and 4 spots. That’ll bring in a huge amount of money that the Big12 and ACC can’t with just 2. At the same time, that’ll devalue the Big12 and ACC CCG’s as they won’t have the exclusivity they get now because there will be SEC and Bug10 games all weekend.
Still nothing to make me think the Superleague Rapture isnt coming. Just maybe sooner than later.
Really, I kinda think the Big 12 and ACC should band all the g5 schools together and layout the terms to the Big10 or SEC otherwise we’re going to form our own league. Not being able to beat up on the g5 schools will make things seem tough for the Big10 and SEC.
Lot of truth to that. The ground has changed under their feet so quickly; I would think most ADs are worrying about their entire athletic departments, but also the small subset of Olympic sports surviving in the future. What a crazy time.
So many unanswered questions and no authorities / leadership weighty enough for everyone to follow. So many competing interests as well. For anyone that's ever been involved in multi-party negotiations and multi-party litigation, this feels kind of like that.... So many stakeholders, it's hard to bring everyone to the same table to negotiate and strategize a plan, let alone discuss how to divide the pie or even define it!
It all boils down to television wanting to purchase content without having to pay for it, and strategically buying off a couple conferences with bags of cash and sweet talk about their dominance and then just letting their egos do all the damage so the TV guys don't need to get their hands dirty.
Media rights only have value if people are watching.
IMO it's a terrible business decision to alienate fans/consumers of your product. If the Big10 & SEC folks want to be kings of the mountain, I don't see it growing the sport over the next decade.
And I'm someone who traditionally watched 3-4 college games a week. There are a lot other hobbies I can take up on weekends or streaming options.
I just don't know if it will be that straight forward. There is WAY too much political and legal red tape for them to just separate.
Yeah let's be realistic. It keeps us from a 1 bid league and if there's a year where we have 3 teams all 11-1 or something, have a chance at an At-Large.
Really just need to win non-confs against other P4 teams and then need to make runs in the CFP. If ASU didn't get screwed by the refs they'd have beaten Texas.
