Good lord! Sad news as the Rocky's in Spokane, WA closed down this past year. I think you have to go to Wisconsin now for it.

Wasn't it "Pitcher"? As in, Billie Joe's Pitcher Show? (always thought that was a little clever) ((saw The Wall there one night absolutely blottoed))

Yeah I think you are right. I went to Rocky Horror there almost every Saturday night and I generally was not in my right mind. So to be honest. Never noticed it.

The one that basically sat in the parking lot of the UNIDome before the McLeod Center was built was moved out to the corner of 27th and Hudson in CF and is the UNI Visitor's Center now.

Still think about going to eat there when my dad was a non-traditional student when I was little.

Duh!
Rocky’s Place upstairs, with $2 pitchers. Only RR’s location with a bar. Was often a starter or mid week spot, along with free beer at winstons/tazzles before 9:00.

Not exactly sure.

Then they gave you 50 cents back for darts or pool. We’d make one game last nearly all afternoon and have 1.50 pitchers.

The Rocky's by our place in Wisconsin has a drive through that you can grab lunch slices at. Really nice.

Besides Shakey's by the Ice Arena, the one I miss the most is Happy Joe's. Especially those old Happy Joe's with the arcade in the front and the window to the kitchen.

I did hit a couple of Happy Joe's while traveling for work in Iowa a few years back and they just didn't seem the same. Pella, Muscatine and Maquoketa and none were the original Happy Joe's building/set-up.

We were really big on the Pink Floyd laser light shoes at the old Science Center. They were epic for 1995.

Loved Rocky's back in the college days. Good pizza and I can't believe anyone has not brought up them breadsticks. I haven't had breadsticks as good as those since they left Ames.

Those breadsticks were fire however that cup of cheese sauce put them over the top!

This feels like a bootleg Godfather's motif.

Godfathers was started a year earlier in Nebraska. This was right at the time when The Godfather and Godfather 2 where the biggest movies ever, so that probably explains the link to the Italian mobster themed restaurants.

Something else I looked into is that Beau Jo's pizza in Colorado is about 6 years older that Great Plains in Ames, which convinces me that that is where GPS&D got the style for their pie.

When I was at ISU there was Rocky Rococo’s on Welch, that awesome deli back behind the gas station on Welch- was it Davinci’s Deli?, and there was also the Burger King on Lincoln Way just up from Peoples on the corner. Those were the days! Best times of my life..... not even close!

There is a happy joes in DSM that is carryout and delivery only. Still tastes the same.

DaVinci's wasn't a deli per se (even though they had hoagies it was much more Italian food based) but yes it was behind Kum & Go in Campustown. Still my favorite pizza place ever to be in Ames. The guy that used to manage it is the manager of the DaVinci's in Lincoln. They still have three locations there I think. Pizza was great, cheesebread was off the charts incredible, pasta was top notch and their cheesesteaks were awesome too.

They used to have a lunch deal where you'd get a mini pizza, four piece cheesebread, and a pop for $5.

This thread made me think of a couple of other pizza places that escaped my memory until now.

First, do they still have Breadeaux Pizza anywhere? Used to be in almost every small town it seemed like...almost like Casey's. I loved that ****.

Second, back in the early 90s Hy-Vee sold a brand of like half-baked pizzas called Moose Brother's. It was not Hy-Vee brand like the have now...they came in these tin pans and were ******* amazing. I wish they'd bring them back.
