Anyone remember that back in the day in Ames?

Rocky Rococo Pizza and Pasta - We are the Hospitality People

I can't remember the deal exactly, involved a slice or 2 and some breadsticks at midnite, hah.

I remember as a kid going to Rocky's, the one next to the unidome in Cedar Falls. I loved that place. Same as Little Caesars pizza, which is gone from the Cedar Rapids area. I used to direct all of my flights through the Detroit airport (when possible) so I could get Little Caesars, but I was there last week and it was gone.

I remember Rocky's when it was on Welch Ave. Right by Subway-across the street from Cy's Roost.
What happened to it? When I left it was going strong. Esp. from midnight 'till 3 AM.

I used to love Rocky Rococo's. They came up with the idea of selling pizza by the slice rather than having to buy the whole pizza. Sounds crazy now but it was revolutionary 25 years ago. They still Rocky Rococo chains in Wisconsin.

I miss that pizza. Last slice I had was in Union Station in St Louis. Funny, I was just talking about it this weekend.

Wow - that stuff brings back memories. It's had to have been at least 20 years since that stuff was in Davenport (I thought it was the best stuff in the world back then. It has been so long I couldn't even guess as to what my opinion of it would be today). That being said, Little Caesar's has come back to Davenport. That stuff kills Dominoes at that price range...

I grew up in Madison, WI and went ot the original Rocky's quite a bit as a kid. They are still all over the Madison area and I get up there a couple times a year. Usually have Rocky's for lunch both days and the last time we had them make us some whole pies and brought them back frozen.

I have a crushed red pepper shaker (still in use today) stolen, er borrowed, from the Rocky Rococo's on Welch Ave. in 1988 by my late friend Spud. Don't remember how or why we took it but it does have a little sentimental value 20 years later.

Maybe in the midwest, but they've sold pizza by the slice out east forever.

I remember the Rocky's in Cedar Falls and I think there was one in the food court in downtown Des Moines at one time as well.

For my money, Godfather's Pizza was the best. They closed the one in my hometown and they aren't in Colorado. I used to go to one for lunch when i worked in WDSM year ago. Memories of pizzas past.

It was very good, but my memory might be suffering. I was talking with my dad a bit and we were reminiscing about him picking me up from school and stopping there for a slice and go.
Rumor was the guy who owned it just got tired of having the places and only wanted to keep the one in cedar falls, dunno if that one survived or not.
I just remember the super slice deals being delivered to the dorm, oh baby.

Query for the OP: Are you related to Simply Red?

Also, the pool table at Rocco Rococos in Ames sat at about a 45 degree slope, as I recall.

Loved Rocky's back in the college days. Good pizza and I can't believe anyone has not brought up them breadsticks. I haven't had breadsticks as good as those since they left Ames.
