I guess they think Stevie switched to defense this year??? That bodes well for us.

Overall I thought it was a good writeup. I think they will lose by 14+ but the author can't say that...

Aside from the errors in the article about Hicks and mention Davis as one of the starting receivers, he spent almost the entire article talking down ISU. He didn't really bring up any points about why Toledo was better, just that ISU wasn't that good. Toledo didn't even make it to the MAC championship game last year and they lost their best player. ISU wins by at least 10.

What the hell is Central Michigan doing with ESPN at their stadium? :eek4wd: Urgh, at least I've got tickets to the game.

It's pretty bad when we can't even get airtime on ESPN 8 "The Ocho" :no6xn:

So their coach is a gambler?

If their coach is a gambler, watch their punter run or pass on fourth down and watch an onside kick. Blitz City? Halfback pass? Any other gambling moves the Rockets are noted for? Watch out Clones - the bag of tricks are coming according to this article.

Apparently our gamble is to use Stevie Hicks on defense....

I give the Toledo guy props for spelling Bret Meyer's name correctly. I would bet that 80% of Cyclone fans would spell it wrong or call him Meyers. To my knowledge all of the stats were correct, also. In all, not a bad write-up from a guy with an obvious bias towards his team. However, weren't Iowa '02, Neb '02 and '04, Texas Tech '02, Colorado, etc. not notable wins? I mean Iowa only lost 1 game in '02 until their melt down in the bowl game.

I took it as notable wins last season. And I can't disagree with him. Who else of substance did we beat last year? CO? Texas AM? Neither of those wins are that big of a deal.

I like the fact that toledo seems to feel our defense is going to be all around bad. I think our defense will be a pleasant surprise to all.

Was Hicks our leading rusher from last year, I don't have a clue how many yards our backs got but I know with Hicks being injured so much.. maybe he wasn't our leading rusher...

If he wasn't our leading rusher, Greg Coleman is next on the list, and he's at Montana now.

CFN just posted their Landmine games for the season for each team, here's what they had to say about ISU:

Iowa State - August 31 vs. Toledo
Why? Rockets are good enough to pull off the upset in the opener.
2005 landmine Baylor, L 23-13

http://www.cfbnews.com/2006/Preview/landmines.htm

EDIT: Before you question CFN's predictions, they nailed Texas A&M last year, too.

Texas A&M - Oct. 7 at Kansas
Why? A&M's first road game of the year.
2005 landmine Iowa State, L 42-14

Sun even shines on a dog's *** some days AirWalke. I used to be a regular reader of CFN, but I haven't ventured there in over a year probably.

Why? Third road game in a row and fourth in September.
2005 landmine at North Carolina, L 7-5

That landmine stood out of the crowd.

After we beat Toledo, the pressure will be on Big Red to lose to La Tech for this writer to keep his percentages up this year. Perhaps our biggest landmine remains Nebraska game. That is a must. Looking confident at 8-4 with chances for 9-3 or 10-2 if everything breaks our way. We may be due thjis year after all those overtime games in years past. Those linebackers better hold up. We will need them.
