RIP Old Wallaby's building

Just drove by and saw them tearing into the old Wallaby's building. Apparently, it needed too much repair to make it worth saving.

I sort of remember it being a Country Kitchen, but I think I have that confused with the building that used to be in front of K-Mart on S. Duff. I know the original Okoboji was definitely a Country Kitchen first.

Correct. I had heard that the building had seen better days, not too surprising they had to tear it down.

Is Wallaby's where they briefly had an all-you-can-eat taco bar for MNF back in 2004-05? Pretty sure my group is the reason they stopped offering that.

Have a couple buddies that worked there when it was opened a year or two ago and said it was very much due.

Some even said they weren't sure how long Wallabeye's would've lasted had they not moved out. Needed a new roof. Flooring was bad. Kitchen was in awful shape.

And if you look closely at the sign in the foreground, there is STILL a West Cyde Wings placard posted. I guess a blank white piece of translucent plastic is too expensive.

New wallaby's is a lot different than the old. Has more of a Wellman's (in WDM) feel to it than a sports bar feel. I still enjoy it, and the rooftop bar is awesome.

Kindof sucks there are very few restaraunt options on that side of town. You've got West Town Pub out there and thats about it.
