Getting Parker to play one more year will be the most influential recruitment CPR and the staff do offseason in terms of our success next year. We desperately need him.

I would think he would put this to use. I would hope that in his head he would believe he has a shot at the NFL. I don't know if he does or not but I would hope he believes that. I think anyone playing D1 would think there is a chance.

Somebody also asked a question about our D-line next year and CPR mentioned Parker. Whatever that's worth.

He said Parker is ELIGIBLE, he then said it was up to Parker to take it. The way Rhoads said it I felt like Parker may not want to play anymore. I hope I heard wrong.

After tearing up your knee, noone wants to play anymore. Tha attitude will change once he starts regaining strength in his knee!! I hope !

I think due to the economy playing one more year may be better than getting a real job! Probably a much wiser decision to come back next year, don't you think?

my cousin walked on and played at UNI for four years, was finally number two his senior season. He blew out his knee in fall camp, and decided not to come back. The starter blew his knee out later in the season, so he would have been a starter. This was also the year they went to the national championship game. He just wanted to experience college without the football commitment. Don't blame him but it's hard to walk away from.

PLaying football in college takes a tremendous toll on one's body, especially as an undersized DL.

There are a lot of players that decide to move on after 4 years, even if they have eligibility left. Every season, "Senior Day" includes a handful of redshirt juniors.

You know what? I just realized you can't be much of a shadow with 2,743 posts. Just sayin'.:jimlad:

Almost all of the SR Day redshirt JR's are guys buried on the depth chart who are usually "encouraged" to move on. It hardly ever happens with a guy like Parker who should at least be in the regular rotation if not a starter. Parker has a tough decision to make. I think that he had put a lot into going out with a strong senior year and was playing the best football of his career.

It can't be easy to be starring at the long rehab process and the effort required to get ready for another year. I would think that it might hinge on where he is in relation to progress on a degree as well as what he has in mind for a post-football career.

According to his facebook he's set on coming back, it'd just be one semester. Hope all goes well during rehab.

Great news about Rashawn Parker & Money! I was disappointed to learn from the call-in show that while Diamond Dave is 5,000% behind Coach Rhoads, Cyclone Jerry is only 100% behind him. This was suprising to me because Cyclone Jerry from previous weeks posted a much higher percentage.
