Looks like TJ was the anointed one. No real search. His buddy Pollard hooked it up.
It’s almost comical that people really don’t know how Pollard works . You don’t think over the last 2-3 weeks he hasn’t “talked” with other potential candidates lol. TJ I’m sure is far more excited and shown what he can do and got his chance to grow from mistakes made but also grown his coaching game . I believe in Pollard in what he wants and needs which is the right safe guy that has a ton of upside. Everyone is bashing what he’s done in only two years which for one thing trying to build a program like they have been being such a dumpster fire and making it better by turning over a roster and bring in and recruit talent in this Covid environment had to be extremely rough. I don’t take what the lack of success he had there. But he had SDSU going really good when he left.

Yep. Not my first choice but if it is him, then I’m onboard. Whoever it is, it’s time to find some players, get to coaching and being the Magic back! If it’s TJ, he knows the job and should be ready to hit the ground running. Could be a fun spring.

Luckily for him the bar to clear is pretty easy right now. Win at least 10 games, keep losses under 20 and win a ****ing conference game.

Here's the thing. I am against this hire. At the very least I'm against the optics of picking him in what appears to be 24 hours.

But we are a football school now and frankly what matters is keeping Campbell happy. When Campbell leaves, then we can have a talk about Jamie's future.

We aren't just a "football school" - that's ridiculous. And trying to not make a good hire because we have had a few years of good football is a very, very, very bad reason for this. Any AD who is worth anything would strive to make their school good in literally every sport - not just one at a time. This whole myth of "basketball school" vs. "football school" just sets up for mediocrity.

I want to reiterate that absolutely nothing has been confirmed here. There is one story that was written and there's already another report out of Vegas with conflicting information. People have either retweeted the original story or regurgitated the same information, which is not the same as confirming. There is nothing confirmed at this point and to call anything official is disingenuous at best. When there is something to confirm, I can promise you we'll let you know. We're very much not there yet.

shhhh. They don’t care. Their minds are made up based on one article.

only if you are a crybaby and hate ISU. JP isn’t going anywhere so your trashing of him will only make yourself, ISU fans, and our sports programs look bad to outside viewers including recruits. So, I don’t know what to tell you. Get on board and be a fan or don’t be a fan. Maybe the second is the best plan for a while.
sorry but Jamie Pollard is not immune from criticism.

As Jamie said today, we are low on money. He trusts his gut. And his gut says TJ.

I'm 42 and we've never been a football school. I'll trade some ****** basketball years in order to keep football rolling.

His first two classes will be make or break. I don't see TJ as an X's & O's master who will way overachieve with inferior talent. But I do believe he's capable of winning if he can rebuild the 4-year talent base.

He needs to land a foundation with kids in the 70-125 range who will stay for 3-4 years. He will also need to infuse some good transfer talent.

Basically, he has to do what Fred did in his first 2-3 years.

If true, I don’t love it but I certainly don’t hate it. Not a fan of zero’ing in on one guy but it worked for Hoiberg and Matt Campbell, let’s hope it works for TJ.

I’ll be actually watching ISU basketball next year so that’s an improvement over the current state of the program.

This is a legit take. Other big fish in the pool (Belien, Matta) will be in demand and won’t come cheap. I was kinda’ leaning towards DeVries, but Otz is also a great get given the circumstances. He may also be the best candidate to restock the program with top talent, which is the number one priority IMHO. Watching some of the Cyclone players that played lots of minutes in recent years...bless their hearts...has been tough to watch.

I'll just tweak this a bit. I'm not sure it is a 'great get'. It's a 'get' and maybe the best we can do. That's OK too.

I like it. If he can keep foster and our incoming recruits, that is a good start. Its a step up from Prohm. He won't go anywhere and he witnessed hoiberg hire some good assistants with x and o ability. He may fail, but there aren't any home runs out there. Good options sure, but none were locks. I don't he think he is the best coach necessarily but he is far from the worst. This years class with a year to get next years class and things may turn around quickly. I'm looking forward to something to look forward to regarding basketball. I had lost hope there for two years. Now I have some. Go clones.
