I’m not disputing what he says, but if the Pac12 doesn’t do something they will die off and their Big dogs will be poached just like ours were.

Yep, they were already a distance 5th place in the Power 5 race. Going forward, they will be a hilariously distant 4th place (or maybe on par with a reconstituted Big 12 if they're lucky). It's expand, or become completely irrelevant, and there simply aren't more attractive options out there than the remaining Big 12 schools.

It only makes sense because it’s the best thing for ISU, frankly. The Big Ten should be looking to raid UNC and another suitor(KU? But football revenue matters) as population grows in the south.

this is another big 10 company line post

The acc is off the table for the far foreseeable future.

I bet you think this will finally be what gets notre dame to come to the big 10 too

Which again, leads me to say how important this season may be for Iowa State and proving themselves as a legit contender.

It would be huge to make the playoff, certainly, but even remaining in the Top 15 or so would be enough (IMO) to keep a shine of attractiveness on our program, given the track record and trajectory.

Yeah I’m not saying playoff. I’m thinking make the CCG and playing in Jerryworld with a Heisman contending running back and multiple players that will be playing in the NFL in a year. Brand recognition.

Thanks for the link....I thought these comments below the article were well written.

Why is everyone so naive? Money is all that matters. It's always been so. The future is about paying the players. Everything has changed. And crying about Texas is just that; crying. You are what you are. Texas doesn't owe anybody anything.

Sure they do. They owe the Big 12 for breaking their contractual obligations. Anytime you sign a 10 year contract, and "quit" half way through... you are going to owe the other party for breaking it. As for this article, this is about ESPN owing the Big 12 (not TX and OU). Which if these allegations can be proven, ESPN could be in a world of hurt. These are serious allegations (that EVERYONE knows is true and was true 10 years ago when it was said in 2011 by ACC members, but never proven) These aren't just civil lawsuits (for the $500 million ESPN owes the Big 12), but potentially criminal with prison time on the line for high ranking ESPN officials who may have orchestrated it. This is where things get VERY uncomfortable over at ESPN. Once subpoenas start rolling in, old text messages and e-mails are retrieved... it will turn into a "every man for himself" at ESPN which isn't a position they imagined themselves being in. Can ESPN keep themselves together and in line... Or facing a 5 year prison sentence due to one slip up someone made 6 months ago putting something in writing they shouldn't have... do they cave and make a deal ratting out everyone else in ESPN to save themselves. These "blue collar crimes" don't typically favor the accused. There isn't a "street code" to never rat or snitch. A millionaire facing prison typically cracks."

Bahaha prison time. Just like last time, all we've seen is conjecture from Bob. No evidence has been presented yet. Therefore the same thing will happen this time around.

I don't think anyone would seriously see prison time, but you'd be surprised what the threat of prison time will do for people's honesty.

This is why Disney will write big checks to the remaining 8 schools, and make sure to help them get as soft of a landing spot as possible.

The absolute last thing they want is any of this to go to discovery, let alone trial. Their exposure is huge here.

No way it goes until 2025. Not a chance. We're seeing legal posturing for a negotiated buyout, as staying in limbo doesn't serve the interest of either side.
Yeah, I think this is a cash grab for schools to make themselves more sellable. “We got X dollars from the UT/OU buyout, so we can take a cut of X dollars for X years if you bring us into your conference.”

But the kicker in this whole thing, as we have seen with ESPN's actions going back to 2010, is that what the conference leaders (presidents/chancellors/ADs/etc.) want doesn't really matter. It is what the media networks want. The PAC-12 have a contract with both ESPN and FOX that is up in 2024, and their PAC-12 network is currently owned by the conference and performing very poorly after they weren't able to come to a deal with DirecTV.

If FOX or one of the tech giants takes over the media rights for the PAC beginning 2024, they would be the ones driving any future realignment talks. By then, the Big 12 and ESPN will have likely reached a settlement, meaning the leftovers would be free to pursue realignment without penalty.

Zero doubt that every Pac-12 school would want to merge with the B1G. But also little doubt that they will do whatever FOX tells them will make them more money. Hopefully that is adding some Big 12 schools at reduced payout shares.
