Sportscenter just said the non call charge at the end will be reviewed.

Lol, KU fan complaining about refs. Name one.

I realize it's the flavor of the month to say that officials are in our pocket, but we've been screwed over by bad calls as much as any program. O'Neill, Higgins, Hartzell, Valentine and Hightower are a few of the biggest all-time duds.

...I was just looking at O'Neills record over the last 3 years. Kansas hasn't lost with him as ref (I believe they are 9-0, but I may be wrong) there have been 2-3 blowouts, and about 6 games decided by 3 points or less.

You really think he is bad to Kansas?

Honest question here, and I'm asking you directly since by your posts in this thread you seem to know more about the inner workings of the profession than the average fan, but how much of it really just boils down to a "Good Ol' Boy" network, where these guys who are clearly past their prime get protected by their peers?
I can't give you a 100% correct answer but a lot of it isn't in my opinion. These guys go to the same camps and training the new officials do and they're better especially when it comes to mechanics. That's the one thing I can definitely see the difference even between a Gonzaga WCC game and a bottom of the barrel Big 12 game. It isn't something where they go, "Yeah, you did a nice job for us last year can't wait to see you next year!" They do have to suffer through clinics and training.

Unfortunately in the eyes of the fans officials in any sport will never be right. You subject yourself to that by getting into the profession. Like anything else they're never as good or as bad as they seem there's just a LOT of subjectivity and that makes basketball by far the hardest sport to officiate. They could've done a great job for the first 39:30 but because of the last :30 they'd have been remembered as screwing up the game. Is that fair? Not really, because everyone is going to have blunders. There isn't anyone who has ever worn the stripes who hasn't. They just picked a reallllllly bad time to have a couple head scratchers.

Like I've said in the past, the Big 12 isn't just picking guys up off the street and throwing them on the floor and wishing them the best of luck. These guys (in some cases unfortunately) are the best at what they do.

He did the Iowa ISU game earlier this season. He was at our home TCU game.

I see the problem now, one of his primary conferences is the Big Ten. He probably just couldn't keep up with the pace of Cyclone basketball.
He has not done too much Big Ten lately. He has been jetisoned more to MWC and MAC near term. I am thinking D3 might bed his calling.

This does not belong in a refs bio. It just encourages a bias toward making history. I'm sure it doesn't matter for 98% of refs but there are always those problem children out there.

It makes sense to put reffing a final four or a championship game in there. It makes zero sense to put reffing a coach's landmark win in there.
