This is just crazy enough that it might be true. If anything, I believe that it was GL's intent to have Jar Jar revealed as the "I am your father" moment in II or III, but after the reaction to the character in I they scrapped that plan and wrote in Dooku instead.

This is the only thing that makes it plausible to me, because the whole Dooku thing was way outta left field.

Exactly this. I really think Dooku was a result of GL bowing down to the fan reaction to JJB. That interview with the actor who voiced JJB is somewhat telling in its own right.

Curious, do you know where this interview is or have a link to it?

I can't get into reddit unless I'm on my phone but its linked in the comments following the main post. Even further down past that is a quote for GL himself in a making of featurette stating that something along the lines of Jar Jar being key to everything (Which admittedly is cryptic).

Isn't this going to be set when Luke is old? JJB was in Ep 1 where Anakin (Luke's father) was a child. He'd be dead by this pont, right?

Lol! This image alone demonstrates how preposterous all it is that this was ever seriously considered, even by GL. Y'all are crazy.

Depends on how long his species lives for. I think Wookies live for 400 years.

Also could be that JJB is Darth Plagueis, who is the sith who Palpatine is referring to when telling Anakin of the one who knew how to cheat death...Palpatine's master, who found Palpatine on Naboo. Plagueis was a Muun though.

If, in fact, Lucas originally intended Jar Jar to be an evil Sith, and then bailed between Ep. 1 and 2 due to fan reaction, than anything written after that point could just be considered part of the "revision."

It would be an enormous risk to Disney/Abrams to bring Jar Jar into Ep 7 though. While it could work, the risk of failure has to be too great for them to try it.

There is an easy formula out there to make them million (billions?) of dollars. New generation of heros, cameos by the original cast still living, a new Sith bad guy (or two) and a fight with the new good guys = print money.

I have not read the theory yet, but there is nothing in the first 3 movies or in the books to suggest that Gungans have a life span of multiple hundreds of years. Jar Jar would have to had become a force user shortly after episode 3 at the latest in order to extend his life. But this breaks the Sith rule of two. So I am highly skeptical going into this reading.

Dammit. I was planning to get my kids ready for this using "machete order" (which eliminates Episode 1.) If I have to watch that crap again now I'm gonna be ******!

ok so I read it and its actually pretty genius. I still don't know how it fits into the Sith rule of 2, unless I am understanding it wrong.

Except JJB basically disappeared in EP 2&3. So if he was a Sith Lord there would have been more storyline involving him regardless of fan hatred. The fact his character was so diminished just proves what we all new. He was the new ewoks, some dumb loveable character to market Star Wars to small kids.

Read the article. This was clearly addressed.

I enjoyed the conspiracy theorizing going on in the original article (read it a few days ago). And as one of the very VERY few who actually liked JarJar, it would be an ultimate F you to everyone who hated on him for the last 10 or so years. ;)

Watch it knowing Jar Jar is an evil mastermind.
