If this is true, I'm pretty confident he will be a DT considering he will likely RS and continue packing on more muscle/mass. Maybe he starts off at DE, but I'm betting he ends up at DT.

Yeah, I don't think that DE is in the cards for Bevins. He'll be lucky to stay at DT and not moved to the OL, which is were iowa wanted him. Meyers is also a DT. They're actually a little light at DE where they only have Aka as a HS player. It helps that Morrissey is a 4 to play 3 guy.

I really don't expect any decommits, but you never know. The class seems to be pretty tight with Aka and West leading the way. Aka and Williams seem fairly close, as does Bevins and Seeley and then Hill and Rogers. They need to keep that FL connection going with White and Simon. White's Manatee team is going to be one of the most highly-recruited teams in the country next season. Just watching their 7A championship game, I'd take at least 7 players off that team right now.

Better chance Bevins plays DE than OL.

You think Bevins will grow out of DE but Aka is light?

6"7" is a little tall for a DT, especially for only being 280. Now maybe if he was 6'1" 280 that would be a little different Lol.

For some reason I was thinking Bevins was 6'7" too. My mistake.

Anyway, that should be future Irving then (or Hayes).

Does Iowa state send out weight lifting workouts to the high school commits? I went to high school with a guy who played o line at Iowa.. and once he committed they sent him a VERY detailed workout program and told him how much he needed to weigh by fall, etc. They really left no stone in turned in making sure he was exactly how they wanted him.

He was 6'5 225 in senior football, by the spring he weighed 235 and was a ton faster and stronger. By that December he weighed 270 and was a beast in the weight room (he never was until he got to Iowa)

I have a hard time believing Bevins is even 6'5"

But maybe, I haven't seen the kid in years.

My neighbors son wrestles in high school. They had a meet or tournament or whatever wrestling matches are called, and when they wrestled Creston, he was raving about how big this kid from Creston was. He was referring to Bevins and he said he weighed in at 260 and was at least 6'6. The one thing that stood out to him was not his size, but the fact that the kid didn't appear to have an ounce of fat on him. He couldn't believe a high school kid could be that big and not appear to have an ounce of fat on him.

Interesting, I was just talking to his DL coach who said he's at 240 right and that he was about to go meet with CPR tonight about Bevins. But yeah I've seen pictures of him on Facebook as we know a lot of the same people and he doesnt look fat at all.
