He is 17 and about to turn 18 next month.

Agree with you that his court vision is amazing in the videos, however -- his best plays, to me, were not his dunks, but his ability to break down a defense and find the open man for an easy shot. We are going to need that again with Morris and Niang in the rafters.

I don't think we can go down this rabbit hole.

You're basically pitting sites against close friends, family and coaches video footage.

He'll just be the Cuban little league player of Cyclone basketball forever. ;-)

Just screwing with you man -- and showing what my Google Fu came up with. :D

If he is younger, great, I just had not seen a reliable source that said so.

Link me? I would be even more excited to learn THT was 16 going to 17, not almost 18.

Seriously though, it's a tougher debate than our cave arguments.

Just let him be the age-unknown Cuban little league player everybody, and enjoy the highlight reel.

Let’s just get to the real question, how much does he grow? Both physically and in skills. Regardless of currently being 16 or 17, he’ll become a better athlete in a college S&C and I don’t think the answer to the age question has much impact on his potential skill development. So, the main difference is in the likelihood of adding length. Anyone know the % difference in growth after 17 as opposed to growth after 18?

I think it has been established this site is wrong and basis for another site copying it. His mom and he said he was 16 and so does almost every article about him.

There is an announcement interview video on one of these threads where THT himself says that he is 16. It was a link to one of the Chicago sports or newspaper sites. I can't remember since I watched around 8 different ones.

The Mac Fire are denying any involvement in THT recruitment and Illinois.

Strongly denying and demanding retractions and apologies from the papers that reported influencing the Illini offer and are "in the process of obtaining legal counsel".

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...n-fire-statement-spt-1029-20171028-story.html

Just more evidence that Horton-Tucker ISU was his first choice all along.

Well, yeah.

Because AAU programs linked as closely as alleged with a college program would probably be in violation of a number of NCAA rules.

Just because everybody assumes it happens, doesn't mean you just talk about it openly.

Don't be too surprised if somebody starts poking around Illinois basketball a bit more.

Thinking you are right. Still some awkward circumstances, and its all a 'he said, she said' merrygoround. Doubt Fran Franchilla got involved on twitter just for the heck of it, but who knows anymore what source(s) to believe. For THT's sake, I would hope it would die down and become a non-story soon. Let the guy enjoy his senior year and most of all let him enjoy picking the '6 in a row NCAA tournament' CYCLONES!!!

I actually don't think Fran knows in this case. i'm guessing he's just following along the echo chamber and hasn't the time to really care.

Horton-Tucker just got rated by ESPN 80 rating and a 4 star.

ESPN still hasn't rated Griffin and doesn't even have Conditt or Haliburton in its system. This is why I just go with Rivals for basketball.

247 and Rivals seem to be the most trusted sites. I believe they moved him up a little fairly recently, but it still surprises me how low 247 has THT (#165). Unlike the other three commits, THT has been a well-known prospect for quite a while.

Side note: Take this fwiw but endlessmotorscouting.com has been a site I've seen popping up more and more lately. Here is where they have the four commits ranked...

Zion Griffin #65
Talen Horton-Tucker #87
George Conditt #99
Tyrese Haliburton #141

Does this change his 247 composite and our class rank at all?

She is! Her twitter feed reads like a CF regular's might. Great job by Coach Prohm selling the family and THT on why they will love being part of our ISU family, and their willingness to step away from what everyone expected them to do in order to find the best fit.

This is going to be So. Much. Fun.
Our new Mrs. Morris?

Post commitment interview with THT. Simeon's point guard from last year, Evan Gilyard, is referenced and he is at UTEP now. He averaged 17 points per game last season so I'm guessing this year THT will be asked to do quite a bit more on the offensive end.
