Here is what’s going to happen at Alabama.

‘25
Kealon Russell, the #2 player in the country, is a freshman. It seems likely that he starts.

‘26
Jett Thomalla enrolls. We’ll see how much chance he has to compete. If he doesn’t win the job, he’ll have to wait until ‘28 to compete again.

‘27
Baba signs another blue chip quarterback, telling him he only had to redshirt, then he can compete for the starting job. A quick glance tells me the #2 QB in the country is instate.

‘28
Bama signs another top 3 QB, telling him he con compete to succeed Klein Russell when he’s off to the NFL.

See, that’s what bugs me. Because basically they’re only poaching Jett because they want a backup QB for a year.

Sure, he might win the job at some point. That said, he deserves better.,
Deserves better than getting the opportunity to play at the most accomplished football program of the last 20 years? What else should he be striving for?

The thing that some people miss is that these players aren't thinking "what if I don't win the job?". These are competitive, supremely confident young men. Not exactly a demographic known for its foresight. I guarantee you that Jett is going into any school he might attend with the idea that he'll be the starter, maybe not from day 1, but certainly at some point. And if there comes a point where he doesn't feel like that's in the cards any longer, he can transfer somewhere else.

But Alabama's last 5 quarterbacks have been drafted, all in the first 3 rounds. Iowa State has had one. And while Purdy has been very special, there's still no comparing the two programs when it comes to getting a QB drafted.

Look at JJ Kohl. Similar accolades coming out of high school but got buried and didn't play. The NIL market for guys that have no game tape isn't real high.

If he winds up playing for Alabama then point taken. But if he's not playing I'm not too worried about NIL.
I just meant that I think our current staff has been recruiting the QB position really well. I'm having a hard time envisioning them bringing in a transfer that is better and cheaper than what we have in house.

WRs, RBs, linemen, etc are different stories, but unless we become some powerhouse destination school or a CFer becomes a billionaire donor, the market for a starting QB is likely outside of our price range.

But, maybe someone like Jett that we had a good relationship with in the past will come along and prove me wrong. I don't doubt this staff's ability to pull off the unexpected anymore.

I just put my hard hat on. Why does a little bit of me hope he might regret his decision later when he's the 3rd QB on their depth chart. Plenty of Brock Purdys our there. Go Cyclones!

Can someone help a CF-illiterate individual? whats a reaction score?
If you click on someone’s profile, it’ll show you their number of posts and their “reaction score.” The reaction score, I’m pretty sure, is just the number of reactions to posts (like, funny, winner, informative, etc.). I am pretty sure that “dumb” also reduces that score.

I think they’re getting into a **** measuring contest about who, on average, gets more “likes” on posts on a per-post basis.

If he gets buried at Alabama he would get buried here too. We are on equel footing with Alabama for QB. You can even make the argument that our QBs have been better over the last five years. I'd take Rocco over Milroe any day and probably Brock over Tua as well.

Tua left college with multiple NCAA passing records. Let’s not get crazy.
