My grade and middle school education was a very long time ago. But maybe if Pluto is redefined to no longer a planet (for ridiculous reasons), tomatoes are no longer a fruit?You could not be more wrong on Tomatoes, it’s a for sure vegetable…I think
Tomatoes are fruits because they have seeds, technically a berry.

I don't know if it's the state of Iowa, or pedantic engineering minded ISU students, but I don't have these types of conversations nearly as much as I used to when I lived in the state.

Vegetable is a culinary term, not a biological term.
Fruit is both a culinary and biological term. The biological term basically just means something with seeds and includes tomatoes, pumpkins, cucumbers, and all sorts of other “vegetables.”
The traditional “fruit” from a culinary perspective is what we mean by the fleshy sweet plant bulbs.
