I have ISU winning all home games. Then winning at Ohio, Cincinnati and BYU. ISU loses at Baylor, Oklahoma and K-State.

I am not saying ISU blows everyone out. I have confidence this staff will manage the game better than last year. Have you looked at team stats other than W-L? ISU was easily better in every

If ISU wins the three games you mentioned, Iowa, Cincinnati and BYU that's the 9 win season.

Looking at last year's stats ISU was even or dominated ever category except interceptions. If I remember correctly ISU had a -8 interception for the season. ISU also had 7 fumbles but those are two of the easiest fixes in football by just "managing" the game better and making better decisions with the football.
75% of these naysayers dont/arent looking at team stats, nor could they interpret the significance even if they did. Its all W/L, which is why when you go 4-8, they make more appearances on forums than normal

Yeah I really do think we are going to not be good. Our defense might get us a couple wins. However, I just don't see us being that good. Way to young, Not enough experience at skill positions. New Quarterback. New Coaches calling plays. I think we might be pretty decent the following year, depending how this year plays out .
Ill ask you the same question I asked a poster earlier. Those of you that are already counting this season as a failure, had we not changed any coaches and no gambling issues, and kept everything the way it was, what would your prediction have been for this year?

I do agree that it's possible but it's not probable for us. We'd be having one of our best seasons of all time and would likely make the CCG. I love the optimism though, I really do.

I have the K-State game as a potential play-in with ISU losing. I have Baylor and K-State in the B12 championship game. And, if you are the head coach and ISU has had the #1 defense in the conference 3 out if the last 5 years wouldn't you game plan to that advantage?

If I can copy this it will show how dominate the ISU defense was in 2022. It was nearly impossible to lose with that defense.

I would probably take a more wait and see approach but I would be more optimistic on it. I could talk myself into a quarterback with a year under his belt, two healthy running backs with experience, a new line coach who is supposed to be good. However, none of that is reality

Norton, Sanders, and the Stanford transfer all have experience and are healthy. We have a new line coach who is supposed to be good.

So 2/3 of the things you said actually ARE reality.

The only thing thats not reality is the QB having experience. We would still have to replace X and McDonald. What do you project for wins? 6? So Dekkers is the reason wed magically win 6 games this year, and not the 4 you assumed wed win in an earlier post? Am i understanding correctly?

The only thing thats not reality is the QB thing. We would still have to replace X and McDonald. What would you project for wins? Because now Im really confused on your stance on this year...

Well then you can remain confused because I outlined what I thought and you can take it or leave it. Hope you have a confused rest of the night. We shall see how the season turns out and I hope I’m wrong

It not pro or anti Dekkers it was the offensive philosophy. When you have an elite defense don't let your offense beat you. ISU had 15 pass interceptions thrown last year. That was no acceptable with the defense. Punt and make the other team move the ball 70+ yards to score. If ISU passes 30 to 35 times a game it will be a long year.

Theres nothing for me to take or leave. I was genuinely curious. I didnt think you would contradict yourself in the process, but oh well

the impressive thing about this is our defense played at the level it did, rarely having a full field to work with. They were usually trying to minimize the damage of an INT or fumble. Imagine what they can do if they arent given a short field every time

This is why I am confident.

I'm banking on the fact that b/t the new QB and new OC we can cut down on the TOs.

In the UNI game, I’m fully expecting to miss two FGs, have a punt blocked, not have any KOs go through the end zone, and give up either a long punt return or KO return. And like last year, we won’t be able to overcome our ST struggles.
