I was one of these guys that questioned Royce's heart and/character earlier in the year. I have been thinking and I realize I was wrong to question this young man's character based on what I saw in a short period of time on the floor. Does he have room to grow? Which of us doesn't?! Was it fair for me to say that he needed to appreciate this opportunity more when all I based my point of view on was his play and my percetion of it? Absolutely not!

I feel lucky to have a man like Royce playing for my favorite team! His growth on the floor has been considerable IMO. But his advocation for the awareness of the illness he suffers from is wonderful! This man will help many people if keeps it up, using basketball as a platform to carry the message he is obviously devoted to. I WAS WRONG!!! And I am absolutely GLAD to say this! Keep it up Royce! You are a great example for me and countless others!

My plate of crow comes from further back. I was not in favor of bringing him on board and said that I doubted he would last to ever play a minute at ISU. I also said I was hoping to eat some crow.

Thanks for the cold bird, Royce.

I have to eat a big plate of crow in regards to the whole team. After the MSVS game I predicted last place. Boy, do I look foolish.

I was that guy talking crap about Allen at the games. He drives me nuts. I even said, after a turnover in the KSU game "that's what Chris Allen brings to the table."

Then, on the very next play, Allen comes out and drops a huge 3 that reignites the team and the crown.

The lady sitting in front of me turned around and said "no, that's what Chris Allen brings to the table."

I felt like crap.

Crow = eaten.

props to you all - sacking up and saying you were wrong. sites/boards like these make it easy for people to be anonymous trend-riders (***** when its bad, cheer when its good).

You volunteered to eat crow and man'd up. awesome!

I don't have crow to eat about Royce because I could see the talent was there and that he just hadn't put it together yet (that will happen when you haven't played competitively in 2 years), but I am willing to eat crow about Fred and Chris Allen.

I was hard on Allen earlier this year because of his shot selection. I said if he hadn't learned what a good shot is by his 5th year, he won't ever learn. He's been outstanding as of late of when to shoot and when to pass.

And on Fred, I was against the idea of bringing him in. I love me some Fred Hoiberg, but I was afraid that if he failed, he might ruin his legacy here. I would have loved the idea if he'd been a head coach somewhere first. If we make the tournament and/or make a run late in the year, he's going to increase his legacy, which I thought would be the last thing that would happen by the end of year 2.

Man, that's a lot of crow. I'm going to need a to-go box for leftovers.

I've put RW in my All-Time Cyclone (when Johnny started) rotation.

Posts
Cato, Fizer & White

SF
Grayer & Hoiberg

Guards
Tinsley, Hornacek & Willoughby

I know Big Vic should be in there but his game is just too half court.
White replaced Homan.

were you the royce does not sweat guy?

I don't know if I was specifically "the Royce does not sweat guy". But that was part of my criticism. I now have seen countless times where Royce has taken a guy to the hole without looking as though he was even trying! Obviously he was because he scored. But he is so talented I think that sometimes it just doesn't look like he's trying that hard.

Another thing I love about Royce is that he just doesn't get caught up in the "ego trips" if you will. Against K-State, Percy continued to get into shoving and bodying with #20. Don't get me wrong, the intensity is appreciated. But at some point it becomes counterproductive and I think Gibson was treading on that line. The same guy and others kept trying to get under Royce's skin by running a shoulder into him or pushing....Royce just smiled and went about his business dominating the game! The ability to realize, you guys can try to show me up by doing that garbage all you want but I'm gonna do my talking/showing up on the score board and the stat sheet is great! That's maturity and that's another big up to Royce! Yet another reason I was way off base about Royce. Sky's the limit for this guy IMO!
