Chase was one of three TEs who came and read to our preschool class last spring (TE coach’s kid was in our class). He went to Gilbert when his dad was a coach at Iowa State so he remembered his kindergarten teacher from back then. I guess I never paid attention/knew that he was a Terry Allen’s son.
Broke down and bought Madden football for my PS4. First time I’ve bought it since like, probably 2009? I miss there being a college football game so much.
Seeing your post reminds me that I haven't been out to Maynards for a walleye sammich all summer. Think this is kinda your fault for moving.
When I go all "Lake, sammich, beer?" the proper answer was "What time?". What I hear this summer is "Gotta work late", "I'm on call", "I have a doctor appt on the other end of town", "I have racquetball tournament", etc.

Little Caesars just threw out pizzas and this one douchbag just ran out and grabbed 2 from the dumpster.
Took both dogs to the doggie dip in town tonight. Emma loved it from the start. Sadie was finally jumping in on her own towards the end and swimming well. Looks like both are finally sleeping. Me on the other hand, mucho tired, too old and fat for that ****.
There's a fried chicken place in Dallas that's attached to a laundromat. It used to be in the laundromat but they've expanded the building. Literally the best fried chicken in Dallas.
Apparently an hour and a half of running around and swimming wasnt enough to make Emma sleep all night.
Capped off the weekend with our first trip to the apple orchard for the season, a nap and a trip to a county park to run off some energy. Also finally got around to thawing and separating some of the frozen chicken we bought from Fresh Farms back in June. Cooked up a bunch and shredded it. Always forget how much heat and moisture is produced by doing that.
early am appt to have someone look at our patio/retaining wall. We had noticed some heaving/settling around Memorial Day and DH noticed gravel/soil leaking out from the boulders over the summer. Turns out the wall itself is in good shape but the grading in the whole area is pretty terrible so we have a few options. IDK, I don't want my plants all torn out but sounds like a decent option is taking out the concrete patio to regrade and then expand the patio a bit in one direction. Plus we need to regrade below our patio because it settled a lot and we get water pooling and hanging out near our septic tank thingies. Which seems bad. This all seems $$$$$ but we can't do it ourselves. Technically we could do the regrading but all that river rock, **** that.
oh it turns out the step out of the house to the patio is illegal, too tall and then the concrete step itself has too big a differential. Always thought it seemed like a good sized step.
Well, that sucks.
The good thing is like, he said the builder did a good job not nickel and diming the way they did it so the wall is done in a way it should last. But the concrete pour probably won't. So we could do mudjacking/foam to get a few more years and that's basically what we're talking about now - do we want to just ignore it for a while or deal with it. I am not patient so I'm thinking that all could be our project next spring and have them do the regarding below the patio, redo and potentially do a small expansion on the patio.
We shall see, my thought is if we're going to tear the yard up, let's get it all done at once.
There is another option. Go buy/build another house quickly so it will be someone else's problem!
