My fitbit won't talk to my phone anymore, I've rebooted the phone and the fitbit, I've bounced bluetooth on the phone multiple times and now I deleted the fitbit from the phone and have tried to repair it to no avail.
It seems fitbits are designed to screw up about every 2 years.
I have enough points through work that I just ordered a new one
Yeah, my fitbit will still send steps and that sort of thing but I can't get it to recieve texts, notifications, etc. I originally got it so that I could get silent notifications as I was in so many meetings. I am looking at a Garmin but I can't get a straight answer on if there is any monthly subscription required for any of the features like the high end Apple Watches needing cell service.

Throwing an impromptu deck party tomorrow night to toast the end of summer and maybe celebrate me making another trip around the sun (DND). Haven't asked people over in a long time. Sort of now putting people into two categories, those that will come drink my wine and those that don't with the later being currently useless to me. Also assuming people I don't hear back from are probably dead or something.

I have a Gamin Solar Instinct and you do need the Garmin app, but there isn't a subscription needed to be able to read and send texts. The texts you can send are "pre-programmed" - i.e. Yes, No, Can't talk now, etc. type of texts - you can set your own, but you can't send a "unique" message as a response. You set app permissions (i.e. what notifications will get forwarded to your watch) within the Garmin app

What I really need is texts to appear or at least a vibration notification that I have a text and vibration when the phone is ringing. I probably would like email notification but that isn't a deal breaker. I'm not even sure if I would like the email one, since I get a stupid amount of garbage emails at work.

I'm not looking for it to replace my phone, just give me notifications that I might need to pick the phone up when it is silenced and/or in my pocket. I often can't feel it vibrate when it is in my pocket.

That being said, it would be nice to be able to track a run or ride without having to carry my phone along as well.

You'll get both of those with the Garmin, but you need to have a semblance of being "tech savvy" (or have kids who are) because much of the management (i.e. app permissions, vibration settings, etc.) is done on the Garmin app and not on the physical watch - it's really just an initial setup, unless you want to add/ remove those permissions in the future.

When you get a text you can use the press-buttons on your watch to read the message in more detail and respond with the generics. You cannot use the watch to talk, you'll need to use your phone for that.

Now if you leave that money in your account the rest of the year you will likely have $139.02 at the end of the year.

#moneyworkinghardforyou

Already spent it. Damn, this party I am hosting, maybe 12-14 people, has gotten WAY spendy. LOL. Totally worth it! Forced me to clean up the house. Not quite an a facny indoor party but not a tailgate either even though it's on the deck.

Thanks, this is very helpful. I'll probably pull the trigger on it now.

I ordered a Fitbit Sense 2. I got an email last night that it shipped so I would guess I should get it in another day or two

FML!! Donating plasma this morning and the plasmapheresis machine started leaking my red blood cells/plasma. I had just completed my first cycle of 190 ml of plasma and it was going to return my red blood cells. Well the machine was shut down due to the leak and they couldn't return my blood cells or give me saline. This is like donating blood where you can only donate blood every 8 weeks. Now I am deferred 8 weeks because of the machine issue and the red blood cell loss. Weekly rate was $125, so to miss 8 weeks really sucks!!

That sucks. But wouldn't that really be selling plasma rather than donating it?

I wish I was more familiar with Milwaukee, trying to plan an activity out, I feel like that would be more fun than just going to a restaurant.

Weather pending, park downtown and walk around Lake Michigan, the Fonz statue, etc.
