I learned today that I really don't like sweet potato chips. They sounded good but didn't live up to my expectations.

My 3.5 year old son is a big time handful. He has now gotten into the habit of throwing things like toys and now will slap my wife and I or talk back to us. Taking him out in public is difficult enough that we often decline going out to places. We went to a church service last last and both boys were screaming and making a mess. We also chased my son around the church a few times.

My wife and I get up early (around 5:30 so we can have some quiet time to talk and do a workout. This morning, but the 3.5 year old and 1 year old woke up at 5 and it completely derailed our morning routine. After 20 minutes, I finally lost my patience which led to both my wife and I breaking down in tears.

Anyways, For parents of boys, what age do they finally start to settle down?
I think it is about 24...

Hang in there.

My son told me his vehicle was low, I went to fill it up before school for him and the gauge never moved. I put 14.5 gallons in it. The book said it held 14. Not long after the fuel pump gave out. I believe it sucked all the crap that accumulates on the bottom and burned out the pump.
I have often heard that you shouldn't let your gas get too low for just such a reason. On the other hand I regularly drive my tanks to ~20 miles left or less - once I drove about 2 more miles after it said 0 miles to empty. I have never had to replace a fuel pump and I drive cars into the ground. Maybe by running the tank dry regularly I am cleaning out the bottom of the tank before it becomes enough to be a problem?

Wife put on the state fair highlights. She loves that. They started tonight with the nationalization ceremony that they had at the state fair. I’ve never been to one but the lady who used to own the Mexican store uptown asked my wife’s best friend to go with her. She said it’s something special to attend if you ever get to go. Wife’s friend said she was even crying from all the joy that was there.

We are probably going Saturday but I will have to check to see if they have the ceremony next year.
We had them on occasion at a place I worked. They are indeed the coolest thing even for someone like me who can sometimes be rather cynical.

A faculty member in my department became a citizen after teaching here for around 10 years, along with his wife. He invited us to the ceremony...it was inspiring. And he was so excited to be a citizen he ran around hugging everyone afterward.

Car showed one mile of range left so I quickly swung in to get gas which made me late for an appointment. Put in 18.1 Gallons and wondered what the size of the tank was so I googled it. 19.6 damnit I could have kept going! ;)

Would have been closer to empty if it was below zero. ;)

Little boy me remembers my dad taking the fuel storage temperature each morning that was on the first of five 15,000 gallon storge tanks. Than taking the gauge readings. Temp made a difference on over 75K of storage.

I sat in on one and there must have been nearly 50 languages being spoken at an event for a couple hundred new Americans and their families.

I must say, I don't think they ever have a problem finding judges to preside over these ceremonies. They always seem to be having as good of a time as everyone else. I think there must be a waiting list.

Everyone should go to one at least every decade. It might just help remind us all about what made our country special from the start and what can make our country continue to be special.

I ran out of gas one time pulling into Casey's. I had to get out and push the truck about 15 feet to pump gas.

Closest I've come to running out was in college. Pulled into a rural gas station just outside of Backbone State Park and heard the fuel pump of the old MGB starting to make clicking sounds.

I'm racking my brain as to which entrance there used to be a gas station near. Was that near the golf course at the north entrance or near the beach entrance? Or are we talking about one in Dundee?

Before the entrance near the dams. Little resort that I recall as Forestville but maps show now as Forest Villa Resort.

Used to fish from the dam abutment walls as a little kid with my dad and sister. Traditional cane poles with bobber and worms. Always caught fish. Got spoiled. Didn't figure out till I was an adult that my dad only took us there when they were biting. He was good friends with Louie who was the park manager, than called "custodians". Louie let him know that he should bring the kids over.

We also drove Louie's car out onto the frozen ice one winter dragging us kids behind it. I would guess that park employees don't do that anymore!

And, coincidently, I was transferring some files on a memory stick and saw some photos on the stick. Phots from 2014, Backbone State Park. Took a drive through the park with my sister in my Boxster as sort of a memory run!

I know a lot of you in here are old farts but do any of you get JCC tix for your kids for football? I haven’t gotten my kids’ shirts yet and am wondering if others have.

Out of town for a few nights and the Airbnb's TV has a 'Little House on the Prairie' channel.

I was too young to have ever watched it.

Iconic show but man does it have some dark situations.

Trying not to repeat yesterday. Keeping an eye on the radar. Been trying to do a 3 mile daily walk since my neck disc has grounded me from my usual biking routine. Got caught in one of the daily storms yesterday and got drenched even though I took shelter in a little greeting kiosk at Eloise Butler gardens. Damn, glad I had not gone birdabout with camera and was only doing walkabout.
