When I was in Little League I didn't really know the game - never watched it and was just learning to play it. I didn't even know I was put in RF to hide me. Didn't know there was a hierarchy in the OF.

I was blissfully ignorant.

My time in little league coincided with about as interested in baseball as I ever was.

I could probably have put together my own MLB roster with reserves at each position at one point.

So there we were on Monday at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny. I know we need gas before heading home and the Casey's across the street is showing $2,94 when we pull in. We lose, MrsWx decides to go load up while we get placing figured out so I tell her to go top off while we wait. They bumped it up to $3.29 during that time to gouge all the out of town people. Other places in town on our way out were still sub $3.

At first I read this as they bumped it up while you were getting the gas.

When I worked at a gas station a lifetime ago we were always careful to change the sign outside before we changed the price on the pumps when it was going up and change the price at the pump first when it was going down - false advertising and all. I had encountered a few places that didn't do that and thought it was no big deal that they had enticed customers with a sign that read a lower price than what they ended up having to pay at pump. It isn't as big of a deal now since you don't have to go out and physically change the price on the sign by hand with a ladder and/or a long pole. So they can pretty much change the price on the sign and the pumps simultaneously.

Weirdly really nice weather today. 79 degree without humidity or winds blasting away and sunny with no rain at all.
Beautiful today as well. Nice morning for a walk: sunny, 61 and rising. A nice gentle cool breeze as well.

We did see a lady with a fall jacket and winter mittens (yes, knit winter mittens!) on. Was she from Arizona or something? We will never know. We were sweating our asses off in shorts and dryfit t-shirts...

So where is @ImJustKCClone taking gkids on vacation this time? I lost track... And what souvenir trinkets do you think she will be bringing back for all y'all?
Next gk trip is next June. We're taking them on a Med cruise, Athens to Barcelona. We did a similar trip back in the early 2000's. but on a big RCC ship, not the smaller ones we prefer today.
We'll be in your neck of the woods on the 30th. We're headed to Iceland for a geocache/volcano trip like we did in Hawai'i last fall. Same "tour" group - the leader originated Earth Caches. We're flying out of MSP to avoid the Chicago/London/Reykjavik route out of DSM. :D

Oh, I get it. Your "Wheels up!" post confused me. That was freedom from the houseguest. I thought I totally missed your plans for another imminent Gkids trip.

You are such a globetrotter I can't keep up.

Yup. Wheels up was absolutely a reference to son departing Iowa. Five days, one person, and more exhausting than when the hoards were here for July 4-6!

Also, after years of being unable to travel much due to limited vacation time for Lew, we're trying to get in as much travel as possible before we're too decrepit to leave Iowa any more. Give us about 8 more years. The last granddaughter will be old enough for a summer 2031 trip (it will be her & 2 others, one a year older and one 6 months older). :D
