@Velo’s comment about good neighbors prompted me to share my own grateful small town story. My dad died Thursday night completely unexpectedly, and the funeral was yesterday. Friday afternoon, the young couple and their daughter who live behind Mom and Dad came over to see her while all of us kids were there. He agreed to be a pallbearer. Before we any of us got back to the house following lunch early yesterday afternoon , he was already there mowing their large yard with his own mower. My sister-in-law went out to talk with him and he offered to stop mowing if the kids wanted to run around and play outdoors. She told him they were staying inside because of the heat. It was more than 90 degrees with no clouds and very breezy.
The neighbors are Cyclone fans which is great. They’re good neighbors who’ve helped my mom. That’s even better.

Sorry to hear about your dad. It is never easy to lose a parent. :(

Son was supposed to pitch Thursday, due to last nights starter falling apart, todays starter was pulled up. Today is a lot tougher game than Thursday so this was supposed to be a throw away game, but son gets it due to the rotation being messed up.

This follow-up is really a prequel, but my brain’s not in prime working order: this same young family came to the house back in January, introduced themselves and brought some eggs from their chickens. They’d noticed none of the recent snow had been moved from around the house and wanted to see if something was wrong. (remember mid-January’s “cold” and snow?)
Dad had had a heart attack, went to the hospital and was transferred to one in Des Moines. Mom wasn’t going to drive anywhere in that weather, and could not have moved snow anyway.
They cleared the snow.

Good luck to him, especially if you have wind like we do.

Thanks. He pitched in the rain. Rough start, gave up 3-4 earned runs in 5 innings. Some errors made it look worse.
Biggest set of doucher umps out there. Nothing to do with calls has to do with something else.

Usually it’s JV and then V. Well due to the weather they went Varsity first. After the varsity game, our JV started warming up. Son walked out afterwards, like usual, to just chat with me. I overheard the South Hamilton coach say to the umps, they (as in my sons team) expected to play JV so can we play a few innings? The ump then laughed, turned and left. They were paid to ump two games, but since they had been paid earlier they felt they could just leave since Varsity had played.

Now you can see these umps don’t care a lick about the kids improving, they just want their money and leave as soon as they get it. So if anyone knows who the baseball umps at south Hamilton were tonight, avoid them because they are losers.

pretty crazy that after 24 hours the results were closer than most f1 races. I'd love to go some day. I went to 12 hours of Sebring and it was the best racing I've ever seen.
Do they still run Sebring? Wasn't it in Florida?

Well, that sucks. Should have been made clear during the first meeting with home coach and officiating crew.

Yes on both accounts, but I haven't been in a LONG time so it may have changed. When I went, you could pull up a lawn chair about 100 feet from the track, take a cooler, and enjoy 12 hours of racing.

This has not been a great trip. Been in my hotel room most of the time. Got sick due to a medication I am taking, I don’t recommend puking at the office. Hoping to get through today without issues and get home tonight. All three kids puked for MrsWx overnight as well…
