All of the tree loss in NE Iowa is maybe the equal or worse than Dutch Elm disease. Remember going off to ISU as a freshman, August 1969, and coming home for Thanksgiving and being in shock as I drove the mile from downtown to my parents house. The solid canopy of elms was gone and all that was left was utility poles and lines which I'd never noticed before. You used to drive down Franklin under a solid cathedral arch of elms. I was worse than at ISU where I had visited the summer of '69 and when I got there for school in the fall all of the elms were gone. The LA Building and Dairy looked naked although the four huge elms in the Dairy courtyard were still alive (but not for long). People born after the 1970's have no idea how much city landscapes have changed. There are a couple of streets in the Twin Cities that still have elms, it's like some sort of throwback visually to scenes I grew up with.

Speaking of elms, **** dead elm trees!

Red elm is about as fine a wood as you can burn, also. Burns long and slow, and good heat given off. When we heated with a woodburning stove, we actively hunted for fallen red elm logs. (It also splits easily, if well seasoned.)

My daughter and her husband were over this weekend. Apparently they had grilled some corn on the cob, but found out they had no butter. They ate it anyway -- said it was not very good. I said that was because all an ear of corn is, is a vehicle to transfer butter from the dish to your mouth, with the false premise that because it's a vegetable, corn is good for you.

Corn is a vehicle to transfer butter to your mustache. Even more of an issue now with my cray cray Covid-19 Brimley tribute stache.

Wherever I go, there I am.

Don't care how bad it will likely be, I'm going to see the new Bill and Ted movie when available and love it.

Are movie theaters open?

Not sure...I'd assume it will be available at some point via streaming or whatever.

It comes out on 8/28 and the commercial did say something about theaters?

If you want to see it in the theater I would go ASAP. Doubt it has a long shelf life. I would probably have more faith in another bevis and butthead movie than BnT part3. Wyld Stallyns are toast. I think I know a lawyer that had an intramural VBteam with that name.

It will be on Netflix or some other form...no way I go to a theater right now.

It's going to be awful but I don't care.
