Now that we have some former marching band members on here, are there any actual lyrics to the 2nd verse of the Fight Song instead of the ones that the students created?

I couldn't agree more. We are getting rid of an old song and replacing it with an older one? There are plenty of new songs that would work. I trust JP will make the right decision though.

Then list some examples. "Thunderstruck" is about as good as it gets when a team takes the field. If that doesn't get you pumped up, you don't have a pulse.

Complaining about the age of a song just makes you look rather dumb. It's about the quality of the song.

I think you're referring to "Go Cyclones Go", which is the tune directly after the fight song in the pregame sequence. It is more well-known as "Don't Know the Words". There are two distinct versions of it, thanks to 'potentially over-lubricated' students.

The real words are nothing more than "Go Cyclones Go" repeated 4x.

The alternate words (family version):
Don't know the words
Don't know the words
Don't know the words
And I don't care!

The alternate words (student section version):
[First three lines same as above]
To this stupid f****** song!

I'm very well aware of the "Don't Know the Words" version; actually, the first game I saw at Jack Trice was vs. UNI in 2004, and I remember standing in the middle of the student section, disappointed that the students would actually sing the fight song like this.

Soon, I found out it was just the second verse, and I've been participating ever since. :p
