*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

No one is going to be giving Tucker 500m. Just isn’t going to happen. He hasn’t had the huge breakout season that would warrant that this offseason. Unless he just completely goes off in the playoffs. Which I doubt happens.

Yes and no. Is Tucker worth something like $50M per year? Heck no.

But when people say $500M contract, it's typically BS because there are player or/and team opt-outs. Even Soto's record 15 year deal has player opt-out after 2029 and his contract is front-end loaded where he's making $60M+ AAV the first 5 years, then his AAV drops to $46M starting in 2030.

Sure $46M is a big # in 2025 dollars, but probably not elite salary in 2030.

Much needed win today for sure and nice to see the hits come. With Tucker not playing today and a team day off tomorrow, hopefully he can get busy in St Louis.

Horton has been so good lately. He’s gonna be a good one.

Gotta admit, I figured he would be a useful guy, maybe mid-rotation upside, but yeah, he's looking like he has TOR upside instead. Very nice. Maybe Wiggins can follow along and be the mid-rotation young arm, that would really help things over the next few years. I'm guessing they're targeting him for a '27 arrival.

I'm still hopeful that an off-season helps Brown big time. He's got the arm, he's got the fastball velocity. Feel like if he gets it right between the ears, has better fastball command and adds a 3rd pitch- he could be a 3rd/4th starter in an elite rotation.

A lot of "ifs", but the tools are there.

45 out of 61 I think for the brewers, insane….they just feast on these .500 and below teams, just crush them

It's borderline ridiculous how much the Brewers are winning of late. And annoying, frankly.
I thought Boog mentioned during yesterday's game the Brewers were playing .750 ball over their last 40 games. Crazy how getting hot can snowball itself- confidence is big in sport.

Can only hope the Brewers "revert to average" and play .500 ball for an extended period. Which is basically what the Cubs have played over their last 40 games. 4 games might not be such a big hurdle:)

Need to at minimum win the upcoming 5 game series. I’m hoping Assad is ready to be the guy to pitch that DH day. Other than Imanaga Boyd and Horton he’s the only one I could winning a playoff game.

I've been skeptical on Assad because so far in his career he's been a borderline 5th starter or multi-inning reliever and especially this year with the oblique injury his health has come into question. That being said I hope he can eat some innings as a starter when he comes back because the back end of our rotation is a mess right now. A fresh arm in the rotation would be a welcome addition right now.

Here is your PCA extension comparison?

That comes out to $16.25 mil AAV for a kid with less than 50 MLB games so far. It does max out at $230 mil with some escalators. This kid also has some patience at the plate that PCA is lacking right now so this is some interesting framework for the Cubs if they want to lock PCA into a long term contract.

He was pretty dominant last night over 68 pitches. I’m just tied of seeing 0-2 misses middle middle by Taillon.
