im going to have to pay for my own cable when i move to cedar falls next month. i was wondering if i would be able to watch cyclone football and basketball games on cable down there. i hear you can get cable through the cedar falls utility company also high speed internet and mediacom. I was trying to figure out if i got the cable through the utility company would i get the basketball games or do i need to go with mediacom to get them. I was hoping somebody who lived there could enlighten me as to wheather i would be able to watch any of the games and if so what should i get. and satellite is out of the question because of the apartment. i just want to know whats better up there.

I went to UNI from '90-'94... my suggestion would be to do what I did, buy season tickets. You are only an hour and 15 minutes from Ames.

I'm pretty sure that you would need to go with Mediacom to get the games up there.

I live near Cedar Falls and I have Mediacom. I get the Cedar Rapids, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, and Des Moines ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates. It's kind of overkill because at 10 I can watch about 6 different news casts, but I will be able to watch any Cyclone basketball game televised (that is if I don't make it to Ames for some reason to watch the game with my season tickets!)

i hope you like cf....i loved it just graduated from uni in december...i would say getting mediacom is probably the best package you can get unless your willing to shell out a few extra bucks for direct tv. You will get the same amount of fball games as everyone else, but definitely not as many basketball games unless you have espn full court.

That is some pretty heavy Hawkeye country, but overall I enjoy CF. My wife is from the Loo so I now spend quite a bit of time up there. I think between the 2 towns, there has to be at least 3 bars for every man, woman, and child.
