I was reading the post about NCAA 2008 below and seemed like alot of people like the 360. I am a PS2 player now and would like to stick with the PS3 so I can play old games but if the 360 is that much better i would switch. Also I like the blu-ray capability of the PS3. I dont play online at all but I would consider it.

Ok guys, try to sell me one or the other.

if you are interested in the ps3..i'd wait a few months because blu ray players have dropped in price and it is a strong rumor that ps3 will do the same this summer..

me personally, i have a 360 and i love it.. i had a ps2 before and it was hard to switch over, but i'm glad with my choice. i really like the cheesy acheivements that you can earn while playing games.. it gives you even more of a reason to beat a game so you can brag to your friends that you have a higher gamer score than they do :)

After being a proud PlayStation and PS2 owner, I have to say I'm gonna skip out on the PS3 and get a 360 if I ever decide to switch over. I love playing games over the internet on my computer, and the one thing that disappointed me about the PS2 is its lack of an online player base. Sony just doesn't seem as in tune with the online gaming world as Microsoft.

360 baby! I like the PS2, but I have left Sony on all products. They have become too arrogant and their support really has left alot to be desired. Ill stick with Microsoft and Nintendo. mmmmm Halo 3

I had previously owned the ps1, ps2 and xbox and decided to go with the 360 after seeing the weak lineup of games that are out for the ps3. Let me tell you, I couldn't be happier! There really is no comparison to Xbox Live if you like playing games with friends online. Also, whichever dvd format wins the high-definition war, you will be fine with a 360, as it is an add-on to the console. However, if you buy the ps3 and bluray gets beat out by hd-dvd, then you've got a $200 heap inside your console.

Online gaming, price, games, better support. Sony is already planning their next system to be expensive. Its rediculous. Sony wont budge much on price. did you know nintendo sold more gameboy advances a month ago than sony sold ps3's? Who the hell still buys Gameboy Advances?

I also had a ps and ps2. I have since then switched to a 360 and love it. The new controllers are perfect and the gaming is better and faster. Not to mention Xbox live!

I have a ps2 and I love it. But the cost of ps3 is a real turn off. Plus, the games just haven't materialized since the game companies build based on unit demand. If I had to buy one tomorrow, I would get the 360. I would also seriously consider the Wii. The sports games on Wii look fun and I like the movement concept.

Thanks for all the input from the 360 guys. Does anybody have anything good to say about the ps3? What if I wasnt going to play online at all, would that make the ps3 a great system?

I was leaning towards the ps3 before this thread, now i am leaning the other way.

I have never tried online gaming before but it sounds great and would probably use it if I had it. Is that what makes the 360 so good?

Don't get us wrong, the online factor is a big one, but the main thing that sets the PS3 and 360 apart is that the 360 is where all the games are at. The PS3's pricing has turned a lot of people off, but is generally considered the more powerful console. Even so, gaming companies are starting to become skeptical about developing for the PS3, and as a result, fewer games are being developed.

E3 is in little over than a month, and is usually the place where the major announcements occur from all the major gaming companies out there. If the PS3's price is indeed to be lowered, that's the place it'll be annouced at. And if that happens, the 360's price is bound to get lowered as well. If you do get a next gen gaming system, wait until after July 11th-ish, or you'll be kicking yourself later.

360's games are so much better. it took me a long time to switch. i hated the original xbox's controllers but the 360's are really nice. I really recomend getting rechargeable batteries for the controllers no matter what you go with. they will save you alot of money in the long run.

Here is why I went with the PS3 and am happy with that decision

#1 It's the only one at the time that included HDMI. I run HDMI through my A/V receiver to my projector where it displays on a 99" screen. You can now get the 360 with HDMI. It's funny that Microsoft made so much crap about HDMI before that had it available. The PS3 is also HDMI 1.3. The 360 isn't.

#2 The PS3 is cheap when you consider it has BluRay. The PS3 is one of the best BluRay players out there. The PS3 also upscales your DVD's so there really isn't a need for an additional dvd player. I believe the 360 also upscales but if you want a HD player you'll need to spend an extra $200 for the add on.

#3 It would have been a pain in the a** for me to get an ethernet connection down to my basement. The PS3 includes built in wi-fi so that is not an issue. I don't believe the Xbox comes with built in Wi-Fi.

#4 Games-The Xbox has been out a year longer so of course it's going to have more games. The PS3 has a lot coming down the pipeline in the next few months. If you notice, the Wii also has very few games. I believe it was introduced about the same time or a little before the PS3.
I'm also a huge Gran Turismo fan and the 360 will never have Gran Turismo. The 360 has some other racing games that are good but you can play Gran Turismo for months on end.

#5 Online-PS3 is free. Xbox Live makes you pay. Xbox live is better but I'm not a huge online player anyway. PS3 will be realasing PS3 home in the next few months, which should be cool.

#6 Bluetooth wireless controllers-I have all my equipment in a closet so this was a dealbreaker.

#7 The PS3 is overbuilt. Developers have already said that they are just hitting the surface with the PS3.

#8 The PS2 library of games is huge. I can get a ton of great PS2 games and play them on the PS3. I wouldn't be able to do this on the 360.

#9 The 360 is unreliable compared to the PS3. You hear very few times where the PS3 breaks. Of course you can come up with examples but from what I've seen and heard, a lot of 360 owners have had to return their 360's.

#10 I have MS Vista and since the last update I now can play all the audio and video files that are stored on my PC to play on the PS3. I believe the 360 has something similar.

For some people the 360 may make more sense but in my situation, there was only one good option.
