Yeah, the people up here also don't play "Duck, duck, goose"; they play "Duck, duck, gray duck". This makes zero sense because you aren't defining what color the first two ducks are. They could be gray as well. There is way too much brainwashing going on here trying to screw up my kids.

This is an Iowa based site so it is definitely casserole, not hot dish.
My wife is attempting to teach my children this atrocity of a game. So far I'm winning.

My family called things hot dishes, but that wasn't limited to casseroles. It was used to differentiate between salads and desserts and bringing something to a get-togther that was served warm. As in: "Each family should bring their own table service and a hot dish to share."

By the way, green beans.

I think we just found ourselves a communist.

Not on board with my food touching. Casseroles are usually evil. That's the opposite of communist, I want everything separate!

America is a melting pot, Angie. Casseroles are like America in a 9x13 pan. Stop hating America.

My brother is like this but takes it to an extra weird step. He only eats one item at a time, so he will eat all of the hamburger, then all of the potatoes, etc. He says if he gets full he wants to have eaten the best stuff first.:biglaugh:

It's not my fault if America is uninspired.

I'm not THAT bad!! That's sort of nuts, though! :)

Tater tots need enhancement, a plain tater tot is a sad sight.

That is why God created ketchup and mustard, my friend.

200 years ago Jameson Casserole was inspired enough to combine tater tots with meat, cream of something soup and veggies to create a dish that symbolized what America was and what it would become, I won't sit here and listen to you drag him through the mud.

Forget the healthy aspects of a tater tot casserole. Cheese or no cheese?

Cheese all the way for me and you sick bastards that put ketchup on it can burn in hell.

Ketchup makes literally everything better, even tater tot casserole that has the poor fortune of being made with cheese.

I like to sauté an onion along with the ground beef. Then add your cream of mushroom soup and add whatever veggies are on hand (green beans, peas, etc). Lots of cheese and tator tots :)
