I would love to play in the Holiday Bowl. SD is awesome.

No interest in anything LA related.

Not sure how they are that different. Both stadiums are right next to the airports and nice hotels. Same perfect weather. It's practically the same metro. Holiday Bowl looks great vs our mid tier. LA Bowl looks great compared to our lower tier. Somebody has to take them if they still exist, I'm guessing Big 12 gets one and Big Ten gets one.

Pinstripe. Let B1G have it since they are all about the NYC market anyway.

Yeah, it's really some BS if anybody but the Big Ten and ACC have to play in Pinstripe.

I like New York but visiting around New Years is the last time I would pick even if a fb game wasn't involved.

I think San Diego is a much easier to navigate city, the fun things to do are less spread out, and people were just more welcoming, interesting, and authentic to me.

I really disliked my visit to LA and it has absolutely nothing to do with politics. There are many places in California I would want to go. LA is a place I have no desire to visit again.

Yeah traffic is the obvious difference but someone could fly in and go to the game and go to one of the nicest beaches barely leaving the airport area, it might wear off over time but Sofi itself is pretty cool the way Vegas new stadium is pretty cool. I guess it's always tempting to see and do everything and then traffic hell is completely unavoidable the minute you try to see more. I can't imagine what the Olympics might do to it all. I love the Bay area but it's even worse traffic hell for me because I don't know where I'm going.

The RoseBowl would actually be very easy to get around and very scenic areas if someone flew into Burbank and never drove into actual LA to experience the worst areas of traffic.

More than anything I think it would just be cool for B12 to get at least one of the two instead of Big Ten getting both.

I'd take the Holiday back, but would much rather it was played at SDSU's new stadium instead of a baseball stadium.

There are 4 too many bowl games in MLB venues.

Maybe it's been mentioned, but the Pinstripe Bowl isn't on your list and it's one I'd like to see avoided. The bowls will continue as long as they make money. Most of them are a good product for TV and most attract reasonable fan support.

It's why ESPN owns/operates 16 bowl games, most of which were created in the last 20 years.

I've never heard anyone say anything nice about Shreveport. Would be about last on my list. That and any cold-weather destination.

I wanted to include it, and I've been there. But the payout is respectable and it is NYC and a hallowed (by some) venue.

The only good thing about Shreveport was getting on the plane to leave Shreveport.

True. But as the playoff expands - and will expand again at some point -

they will be less and less valuable.
Everyone says "the playoffs will kill the bowl games". I ask why? Your major NY six bowls could be impacted because those are filled by teams who are in the playoffs. But the remaining bowls (Liberty, Independence, Texas and etc) aren't impacted by the playoffs. Their value is not impacted. Other than when BYU beat Michigan in the 1984 Holiday Bowl these games rarely impact the too 10 and never any championship results.

For the most part you only watched the Sun Bowl in 1988 if your team was involved, you were a diehard football fan or a kid with nothing to do. This hasn't changed other than more betting interest now days.

My belief is this is "pressure" by the "elites" to eliminate the lower tier bowls for three reasons: 1- to hurt development programs by depriving them of the extra practices.
2- to damage programs by eliminating exposure, notoriety and recruiting opponents.
3- to bring all the attention to their programs and the playoffs.

If through history there were no lower tier bowls and just the "ones that matter to determine the national champions" then in the history of Iowa State it would never have played in a bowl game. Even the great Fiesta Bowl win over Oregon had no impact on who won the National Championship.

Flying sucks so much these days, and TV's are so amazing, why leave the house?
Throw some logs in the fireplace, some excellent food & bev, fire up the flat-panel, follow along on CF for some fan interaction, enjoy and $ave.

You've got LAX vs. SAN, that's one of my least favorite airports to one of my favorites. Better beaches in SD in my opinion. I haven't been to the area around SoFi since it opened but Gaslamp/Petco for Padres games is one of the best baseball experiences in all of MLB. I can't imagine how awesome it would be with ISU football fans.

I'd certainly like to check out SoFi and there's lots of things to see in LA that I'd still like to check out (certainly much more than SD) but from a tourist prospective, vacations in SD and LA are very different.

I am from the George Perles School, as I have never met a Bowl I didn't like! However, from this list, this is my opinion from my experience (when applicable):

Camellia Bowl: I have been twice in 2015 and 2016. I love the old stadium built in the 1920s, and it is a really cool place to see a CFB Game. Alabama played a game there every once in a while into the 1950s. I went to a High School Playoff Game there in 1977. At the 2015 Bowl, I sat next to a guy who played in that 1977 H.S. Playoff Game (for the other team). That was cool. The State Capitol is beautiful and close by for a visit. Might be able to catch an Alabama State basketball game. Pecan Waffle at Waffle House for pre-game meal! I kid, I kid. Kinda, sorta. :)

Birmingham Bowl: I have been twice: 1978 (Hall of Fame Classic - my first ISU game vs. Texas A&M) and 2012 @ Legion Field. While I have not been to the Bowl in new Protective Stadium, I have been to a U.A.B. game there (this year vs. U.S.F.), and it is a nice stadium easily located in Downtown walking distance from the Major Hotels, and Birmingham is an underrated foodie city. Five Points is really cool, and Chez Fon-Fon for dinner is a must anytime I am in town. The Birmingham Mueum of Art is close by and nice, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame is close by and cool, Vulcan is cool to visit or just to view, etc. Not a bad place to spend a weekend and go to a game. I would defintiely go see ISU play there.

Military Bowl: Have not been to a Bowl Game there, but I went to a Navy game back in 1996 vs. Duke. Love the stadium, and Annapolis is like I small European town. I'd defintiely go there for a Bowl Game!

Independence Bowl: I went to the 2001 game, and my opinion is like many others, but I do like the older stadium. I don't mind it being in the inventory.

Of the others, the only one that doesn't appeal to me is the Fenway Bowl. I'd love to go to Boston again and go to a Red Sox game @ Fenway, but I have no desire to go to a football game in a baseball stadium.

Albuquerque is intriguing! Just a city I want to visit.

So-Fi would be great to see. I love L.A., and a game in the new stadium would be cool.

The others I am indifferent about. I have nothing against them, but they don't make me want to book a flight either.

Just my onion.
