I like pizza pit, but I REALLY like Old Chicago. I know it's a chain, but I love pan pizzas, and they make some of the best around.

Outside of that, Bordenaros is good, Rock bottom brewery has really good "little" pizzas, and I like Northern Lights as well.

I take it you are in the Twin Cities? We have some great pizza places up here that top any in Iowa.

Yep, I am. The nostalgia surrounding Great Plains trumps a lot, but what places in the TC are you referring to? I am mainly a Saint Paul guy, but can be coaxed over the river for good pizza.

They don't deliver, but Old George's in Ames has the best thin-crust pizza around.

That crap tastes like stinky feet. The only thing I ever ate there that was even halfway decent was the goat cheese, and that was just wierd.

Dang, you shouldn't have mentioned GP. Now I feel like driving the 200 miles down I-35 to get some.

Up north? Where do you live? We're heading to St Paul in 3 weeks and could deliver one. Might be a little cold, but willing to hook a fellow CF'r up.

That's funny, because we have actually had Central Iowa friends deliver us some here when they visited. BTW, I am in Saint Paul...let me know if you need any info about the city!

As long as no one said Felix and Oscars we are all good.

What the hell is wrong with Felix and Oscars ? I just got done snarffing some Felix and Oscars pizza. If you love Chicago style pizza it is Felix and Oscars all of the way !

I'm not a fan of F&O either. Don't like the flakey pie like crust. Old Chicago's pizza isn't all that great either, because of the crust. If they changed the crust, it might be okay, until then, I'll pass.

Well you have one of the best pizza places in the Twin Cities right there in St. Paul. Red Savoy's is amazing. Also Cosetta's in St. Paul is very good.

In the Minneapolis area, I can't get enough of Pizza Luce. Punch Pizza is a favorite in this area too, but not one of mine.

Fat Lorenzo's is also very good, and the pizza at Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge is great...and that place in general is a trip.

I ate happy joes almost every day in college, but I worked there. It is still good even after eating it every day for 4 years. Pizza Hut sucks everywhere, as does pappa johns. Godfathers is ok. Dominoes is terrible. In Ankeny, I like leaning tower. In Des Moines, I like scornavaccas. In Ames, it's only happy joes.

GP will just give you the pie uncooked if you are transporting it. We have done that for a friend of mine that lives up in the cities...

Yeah, Red's is about a mile from my house, and yet I don't get it a lot. You've made me want to order some now! I have not had any pies from any others mentioned, but I should.

I like DaVinci's in the Twin Cities, what do you think of it?

Thanks for the suggestions!

You gotta try Pizza Luce in the next couple of weeks. There is one downtown and one in Uptown as well. So good, especially after a night of drinking. You can go there for a slice or two after the bars close and the line is usually 100 deep.

Wow! 50 posts and only one mention of Pappa Murphy's.
In WDM, PM is definately the way to go.
In Huxley, Casey's was always a must, but it was the only thing in town.

I'm just glad the Pizza Hut in Ankeny closed. Only went there once and it was aweful. Our waitress got sick right before our pizza was done cooking. She came out to us and said she was going home, and if we were going to give her a tip, could we give it to her now. We politely declined.

Actually 2 posts on Pappa Murphy's and yes, that Pizza Hut in Ankeny was horrendous. I loved Pizza Hut till we moved there. My wife kept giving them 2nd chances and it was killing me....they skimped on us so badly.

Leaning Tower isn't too bad either. You can't forget that Josh Hartnett has to go to Punch Pizza every time he is back in town. I give credit to the Star Trib. for letting me know that bit of information every time he comes back. I love Pizza Luce as well and am now going to have to find the others. We don't have all those nice places here in the sticks.

The one downtown actually places a 2 slice minimum or a $5 cover charge to enter on weekends. (At least they did the few times I have been there.)

so...all this Great Plains talk whet our appetites and we decided to go before the men's game tonight. It was great as usual but they were swamped! Luckily we called ahead because they were telling people there was a 1 hour wait. We had to sit at a dirty table but were glad we could even sit down. All this talk on CF must be working.
