Anybody remember Hometeam pizza?? (i think that's what it was)
It closed down a few years ago, but that was the best/cheapest pizza around and it was perfect to get on the way home from the bars.

The only way I could eat that crap was if it was loaded with toppings. Single topping pizza was really greasy and was not that good. I think they have one in Des Moines still.

I had my different kicks for pizza in Ames. I by far ordered Pizza Pit the most, their other items are great too. Gumby's for pokey sticks and if I went out to eat Great Plains. I used to like that one place that closed down right next to the Kum and Go, can't remember the name though but they made great philly steak sandwiches and pizza but were a little more pricey.

Here in Des Moines can't say I really have a favorite though.

That was DaVinci's, which I mentioned was my favorite. Loved it. Great sandwiches and pasta too.

The place is not quick to get to from central Iowa, but Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, AZ is amazing.

I think I've eaten there!! Is that the place where the instruments play themselves? My grandparents lived down there, and I think we went there years ago.

Anybody remember Little Caeser's? I had a roommate that worked there who was good "friends" with the woman who managed the store. She gave him his own key to the store so a few times he would sneak in at 2am and make everyone pizza.

The Checkerboard in Pleasantville is a great place to go for pizza. And their onion rings are really good too.

Great Plains is still the best in Ames. Pizza Pit is good too.

I liked Little Ceasar's until I bit into a piece and found a piece of glass in my pizza. Never ate it again.

What? More details please

What details do you want? I was living in Willow and ordered pizza from Little Ceasar's....with their delicious Crazy Bread of course.

They delievered it and I was eating a piece of pizza when I bit onto something hard and sharp. Reached into my mouth and pulled out a little piece of glass. Didn't cut my mouth or anything which was lucky.

Never ordered from there again. I suppose I could have tried getting some sort of monetary sum to me, but didn't think I would get anything. Not surprised they aren't around very many places anymore.

Big Tomato on Ingersoll in DsM used to be a great place to get some cheap pizza after long night of drinking. "Lousy Service"

Dang, Godfather's in Ames closed!?!? I knew the one by Casey's did. Lots of memories for me there as I worked there during college.

Best pizza in Ames is Great Plains, no doubt about it. We try and get that whenever we are in town.

In Des Moines, we have ordered Beaverdale Pizza a couple of times, not bad at all.
One pizza I really like though is at Felix & Oscar's, it is their Chicago Style pizza. Man o man is it good! Thank you all for making me hungry! :chatterbox::no::wideeyed:

How long was Pizza Pit there Bhos?....and where was it?

I moved to Ankeny right after graduation in 97, it was open till about 2000. It was located in the strip mall across the street from hyvee, the one where subway and the goodwill store is today.

Hands down the best pizza in Ames when I was in school was DaVinci's. Can't believe they closed it down.

DaVinci's closed?!?!?! BUMMER. I used to like Pizza House on the corner of Welch and Lincoln Way but it's been closed for a long time.

I hated Pizza Pit...first bite would always pull all the cheese off and the sauce would burn the crap out of the roof of your mouth.

I'll second that! I love the different crazy toppings and sauce you can get there. They aren't kidding about the "Lousy Service" either. It's worth it though!!!
